I've just read all the books in the series and I'm looking forward o the next release.
Who were your favourite and most hated characters from the series? I won't contain spoilers, but here is my list: Favourites Danaerys Targaryen Tyrion Lannister Most Hated Ramsay Bolton Roose Bolton Theon Greyjoy King Joffrey Lysa Arryn Characters I stated off hating and grew to like Jaime Lannister (actually I love him now, fair to say!) Cersei Lannister Characters I started liking, got bored with, and now like again Sansa Stark Arya Stark Jon Snow And my big burning questions: Who is Jon Snow REALLY? |

Okay, so I'm still half way through book five (Dance with Dragons) but I have to agree with your favourite and most hated esp Ramsey Bolton. I feel sorry for Theon, despite the fact he is a 'turncloak' he has been badly treated.
I've always had a soft spot for Bran, but he is becoming a bit of a whinger. And Jon Snow is intriguing, even more so with your last comment. But overall, TYRION for the win! Now the long wait for the next book... |

I don't think you'll find many who wouldn't say Tyrion.

Tyrion and Arya win hands down for me. I really hope that Arya comes back into the centre of the action eventually, but knowing Martin, you can never be too sure.
As a minor character I loved Syrio Forel and hope he is still alive and kicking. I also love the weird interplay between Sansa and the Hound. I know I shouldn't but I have a soft spot for Sandor Clegane. Most hated? Joffrey is the obvious answer I guess, but Catelyn annoys the bejeesus out of me. Arya has a future for sure. I just hope George Martin finishes the series before he drops off.

And forgot to add that my burning question is about Gendry. I wonder if he has a central part to play moving forward in the story or if he is just a red herring.
I haven't read Dance With Dragons yet so it may have already been answered. This post has been edited by Shady Lane: 11/05/2012, 09:51 AM |

i would add Bran to my favs (but he only gets so little "airtime") and i can't stand Melisandre....
i also came to love Jaime and Brienne for that matter i am still struggling with jon snows backstory and i know other characters have talked about who his mother is but i just can't remember it right... re Gendry is there anyone left who knows where he came from? only Arya would maybe know and i hope she returns to Westeros eventually... Jamie, I think he has had the best character and story arc. He's always interesting and entertaining, plus the guy that plays him on the show looks exactly like Prince Charming from Shrek 2, which I find hilarious.
Ramsay Bolton is a complete psycho. He freaks me out. Tyrion is pretty good but is kind of boring at the moment (I'm in the middle of no. 5) and I'm sick of Danaerys, she's so flipping boring. |
