Linda6 - your post had a really valid point to make so perhaps consider reposting it in Pregnancy tips, questions and information, Plus size living or the Venting forum.

Anon, if you are in the Melbourne area, please contact me. I have some people you would like to meet! We are a great group of ladies who can share our experiences of being Plus Size Mums, and all of the discrimination and hardship that can go with it. And we absolutely will share our joys with you, too!

Look Anon, I am obese (BMI wise) and was for both kids. I am also fit healthy and under 40, BMI hovering around 30.

I am with the medical profession.

Like it or not you are at higher risk, your baby is at higher risk and you could well need specialist care.

You are not being discriminated against, this isn't "we would deliver your baby except we don't like the colour of your skin" - this is "we could deliver your baby except we don't have the ability to do a c/s, deal with blood sugar levels falling in a baby (which is highly dangerous) or otherwise car for you properly.

What would you think if you said "yeah, but" and they let you on and something happened to you or your baby because they did not have the medical equipment required to treat you?

Look, you're unexpectedly pregnant and extremely happy about it - keep that feeling and don't worry too much about the next few months of care - honestly, they are a blip in the big picture of becoming a parent.

All the best.

OP for the person who the post is about. Imagine what it's like when they say your High Risk because
A your obese and B your aboriginal.........

That's a real corker that one.....
