Pregnancy changes your body forever. So many women just refuse to accept this really simple fact. Don't fall into a trap of thinking that you can have your old body back, simply accept that things will adjust in time if you look after yourself, and please don't try to obsess over it.

I lost weight really quickly while BF my first baby, and fully expected the same to happen the 2nd time - nope! My body obviously realised that BF uses a lot of energy and decided to stubbornly hold onto every gram for as long as possible.

Don't stress OP, it's early days. Try and focus on baby, not the scales. It will come off.

Give yourself a break OP. Your body just did a pretty amazing thing, and ten kilos isn't that bad original.gif

Can't believe my baby girl is 1!
I still have weight to loose from baby #1.. she is almost 7 and then there is the weight from #2 and #3. 10kg is nothing!

Seriously it's only 10kg and you had a baby just 6 weeks ago. There is no rush to get back into shape.. forget about loosing weight and just enjoy the precious first weeks. They go by so fast and before you know it your baby won't be a newborn anymore.

I gained 50kg when pregnant. 50kg. I was 50kg to start with!

16 months on and its all gone. It takes time, effort, and once they start running away the weight just falls off! The extra skin however is more difficult to move!

Holy cow!! Great effort, well done!! biggrin.gif

OP, 6 weeks and your body is only just starting to tighten up and get back to normal on the inside, give your body some time to recover, it just created a human original.gif
Also, congratulations biggrin.gif

Am I the only one wondering why the OB weighed you at your six week checkup? unsure.gif mine never weighed me, so maybe it's common or there was a good reason, but just seems a bit mean to me

as PPs have said, it takes 9 months to put it on, so it'll take time to come off. my GP actually said to me not to worry too much about the number, because most women are never the same again, but just to focus on healthy eating and exercise. I'm currently a couple of kilos heavier than pre pregnancy, but because my shape has changed so much I don't look as heavy as the scales say IYKWIM - there's a good chance you're the same. give it time, and try not to worry as long as you're trying to eat right and get some exercise

Only being 6 weeks post birth you could still be carrying around a lot of fluid. I am one of those women who the weight just drops off whilst breastfeeding - but as soon as I stop then the weight just piles back on. I wouldn't stress too much about only being 10kgs overweight as that is nothing - try being 20 kgs overweight like me!!!! And I don't have the excuse of just having a baby, my baby is 2.5 years old now!!!

Just give it time, be kind to yourself. 9 months to get that way, 9 months to get back, right?

whoa! That is alot of weight! What did you eat?

OP eat healthy and do some exercise it will come off x

Not all breastfeeding women loose weight - more myth than reality (especially in my case)

Certainly true for me too sad.gif I gained over 10kgs in the year I was breastfeeding, on top of the 15kgs I gained whilst pregnant, I'm now 20kgs over weight & I'm no doubt set to gain more this pregnancy!

I had a bit of a sook, but in consoling myself I can lose it, it'll take time (post birth) but it's achievable. No pain no gain eh..
