Just wondering if this would be ok?
My friends DS has an egg allergy and can't eat the b'day cake I made for DS's birthday. He is ok with traces. So I make up a batch of egg free cupcakes, or could I be really lazy and get away with giving him an Easter egg I have here for him ? Or should I get off my butt, get off EB and go make the cupcakes. |

DD has an egg allergy and was always happy with a Freddo at cake time. I know some mums bring their own allergy free cupcake but I never bothered. Although after the first time I made sure I had the packet because the rest if the kids wanted a Freddo lol.

OP
As a parent with a son with allergies I would say that it is lovely that you are considering it. I am sure the parents will really appreciate it and your DS's friend. Saying that I would never expect a Mum to make special food for my DS1 at a party but I would never forget it. I always take a back pack of food to parties for DS1, including cupcakes so he can have some cake as well. |

Apparently 1/4 cup apple purée can be used as an egg substitute in cakes and muffins (ie 1/4 cup per egg). I haven't tried it, but you could do a test cake and see if it works?

You can buy egg replacement powder from health stores. The cakes are usually a little more dense than usual but still fine. Great to have in the cupboard for those days when youve run out of eggs too.

DH ran out of eggs once when cooking my birthday cake, so he substituted for banana. Surprisingly, it was delicious! Very dense though. But hey, it worked!

I always had clearly labelled and well packaged milk free cakes in my freezer as a friends DS had a milk allergy.
They freeze fine and then it was easy when he came over. |
