Hi there

We are adding to our family and need a bigger car especially with the problems of the booster seats these days taking up so much room. Ive decided we should get a 7 seater too in case we still h ave one other bub in the future (the option anyhow).
Im after a good car that has good boot space as well as we would be carrying around a double stroller/pram etc and we like to go away on car trips from time to time.
I did like the SUV look but everytime i stop at a car yard to have alook i cant find one with decent boot space.
So where to next?

Does anyone know of a SUV that has 7 seats but with decent boot space? If not what other cars would you recommend?

thanks for your help

Not sure but I think the Honda Odyssey does.

The Odyssey has a huge boot when the back row is not being used, but once you put up the 3rd row, the boot is pretty small. Bigger I think than any other 7 seater car, but not big enough to put a pram in.
If you want 7 seats PLUS room to put luggage of any sort, I suspect you need a van.

Bumped off the princess pedestal
You can have 7 seats, or a decent boot. Unless you go for a van, there really isn't a car with both, especially if you have car seats to consider (the odyssey, for eg, has anchor points in totally impractical places).

ETA - we love our VW caravelle. Also look at older model tarago (pre 2000 as newer only have 3 anchor points and most places won't install more), mitsubishi delica (japanese grey import, van body, 4wd engine), nissan elgrand (another import), hyundai imax. Most people recommend these.

Don't disregard a van! I love our IMAX for boot space. We also have an older 7 seated jackaroo but the 4wd style doesn't even compare to the van in terms of room, ease of use, comfort and access.

The only SUV that seemed to have a larger boot was the Mazda CX9 but I wasn't willing to spend the extra for boot space we didn't really need now.

The Kia Grand Carnival has a deceptively large and deep boot, we recently went on holidays for a week, with 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 large dogs - food, luggage for 6, stroller and porta cot, big bag of dog food all fit in the boot.

Can not tell you how much I love my Kia Grand Carnival. It's not an SUV but it has 8 seats (all 6 back seats have anchor points but the middle one in each row is a lap sash only belt. When the back row of seats is folded down it folds into the floor so it gives you a flat space IYKWIM so when the back row is in use you have a huge deep well of a boot space.

If space is your main criteria, then the Grand Carnival is your best choice, you'll get 7 very usable seats and a large, large boot. There is nothing on the market with the same amount of space for the price (About 40K drive away). But the second hand/older models are problematic (or disastrous depending on your point of view). The 2010 models onward have the latest engine revision I think)

I have a Honda Odyssey and it does have a large boot with the third row down. With the third row up however and child seats installed its quite small. We're coping okay, but at this stage we're really only one in child restraint all the time (max out at 3). There is always the option of a roofpod, which we may need at some point.

(I spent several months evaluating a vehicle to fit 2x babies, 1 5 year old, 2 parents and a 16 year old, plus grandma)
