Third letter, basically says "thanks for that, um, as you didn't explain why you shouldn't have to change your name, we are ordering you to change your name or we'll deregister you, thanx, the Gov'mint." Wtth a lengthy explanation of how to appeal, should they get their sh*t together and come up with a coherent explanation of why their name isn't really misleading and stuff.

They won't get their sh*t together in order to appeal. Not having her sh*t together is Meryl Dorey's MO. The AVN's financial records are in a shambles and they can't even put out more than one publication per year. Their members are promised 6 copies of their magazine as part of their membership. She's way too busy banning people who dare to post peer reviewed evidence refuting their lies on their facebook page; whinging about the Australian skeptics and the Stop the AVN group and; making tin foil hats.

It looks like the nutbags have lost this round.

Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh
AVN media release about it.

QUOTE
A member of the Australian media has contacted the AVN to say that an unnamed group of medicos in Melbourne has started lobbying the government to force the Australian Vaccination Network (AVN) Inc. to change its name.

According to the journalist, this group claims that the name - Australian Vaccination Network - is misleading.

"We are Australians; we are concerned with the issue of vaccination; and we are a network of thousands of individuals working together and with other organisations both here in Australia and overseas to ensure that freedom of choice and health rights are maintained. It is not up to a third party to say what we can and cannot call ourselves. The last time I checked, Australia was still a democracy. Will they be coming for our books next?" asked Meryl Dorey, AVN President.

"One has to wonder about the priorities of these doctors who are lobbying for the government to force a name change on a small organisation composed of health professionals, concerned health consumers and the families of vaccine-injured children while between 18,000 and 54,000 Australians are being killed every year by their treatments and mistakes.

I don't think I've ever seen so many conspiracy theories in a single media release before.
They haven't encountered a conspiracy theory yet they don't like.

Hopefully this will further reduce their ability to spread misinformation.
Now that the media has fallen out of love with them and "tell both sides of the debate" ,things can only get better.
