I need a night light.

One that will stay on for 8hrs, with dull light, not a sensor.

Or do I need a lamp?

We have one from Woolies, it is a bear (comes in different shapes). We have had it for years but they still sell them I believe.
It changes colours or you can set to one colour. Ours sits next to dd5's bed on charge due to its age but works a treat. Less than $20 I think.

I got DD a Smash dinosaur light at Woolworths, it chnages colour and lasts 8 hours.

If it is for an older child have you looked at LED fairy lights? DD1 (9) has some which are battery operated and they give off enough light without being too bright. She has some issues with darkness and loves these.We have tried various nightlights over the years for the 3 kids but I must admit I like these the best.

He has a 'click' sensor light/torch which is with LED globes. If it is in the charger it will work as a sensor, when its out of the charger it is a torch, and will stay on. this is how we use it. It would be fine but it runs out before morning, and when he wakes during the night and it is on he will just go back to sleep, if it is off he will get up, getting me up and lately in his bed (joy).

So I need something, preferably energy efficient though the state I am in I almost couldn't give a stuff. Bedtime is 8 pm and he is up at 6am, so that's 10hrs really.

Man I'm tired, and rather than putting this in venting: DH, you may work during the day, but I WORK OVER NIGHT. We also have one giving up the night nappy so wet sheets overnight. He thinks she got up dry - has no recollection that I wasn't in bed with him half the night.

DH (an electrican) installed a dimmer on the ceiling light - works a treat.
