I'd be more interested in what your paediatrician said about it.

You realise that just because your babies were OK without it ,that doesn't mean everybody's will be.

I have refused the Vit K with all 5 of my children and will with my 6th. Never had a moments trouble.

It is actually a government directive that Vit K be given, your leading Obstetrician is definitely going against the flow for the sake of a vitamin?

I doubt you could OD on a vitamin. Don't you just pee out what your body doesn't use?

Thats not true. You can overdose on some vitamins. Not all vitamins are water soluble (get peed out) some like vitamin K are fat soluble, so get processed more slowly by the liver and the excess is either stored in the liver or fat or passed out in poo.

Side effects of Vitamin K overdose (from the drug company)
The following adverse events have been reported concerning overdose with use of Konakion in neonates and infants: jaundice, hyperbilirubinaemia, increase GOT and GGT, abdominal pain, constipation, soft stools, malaise, agitation and cutaneous eruption.
