and life barrels on like a runaway train
Gosh, a lot has happened here.

Megan - sorry things are difficult at the moment. Maybe the holidays will give Caelan a chance to regroup? If you would like to bring the two of them over for a few hours next week (Tuesday or Wednesday) I would love to double the amount of food that gets flung around original.gif Wish there was more I could do to help.

Dinojen - oooh, poor Teddy sad.gif How is operation expulsion going? Lots of nappy rash cream on the fissure should help a bit (sigh, from painful experience)...

Mamabug - gack - you have a lot on too. I completley understand the stress of renovation discussions. That is why we still have lurid orange benchtops in the kitchen, fluro green motifs in the bathroom and faux wood veneers all over the house.

The general messiness here is getting me down too and I can't see it improving any time soon. I finally think I am top of the dishes and wham - we have another meal!! The floor is a memory of the past, along with any other flat surfaces. I did manage to clean the ensuite today which was growing furry bits so I guess that is a small victory.

Anyway - better get back to cooking dinner. I have a Chinese class tonight so I need everything ready to go to hand over the baton when Derek gets home.

Pregnancy is uneventful so far and I have not had much time to think about it, which is such a novel experience! I am starting to get the first waves of nausea when I am hungry and am a little more tired than normal but the worst is yet to come.

I went for some blood tests yesterday (posting-related as well as the pregnancy ones). Ten vials!! It is my personal record! Owen and Elise also had to get some (blood groupings) and I am sure you could hear the combined screaming a block away. Owen used to be good at blood tests but I think the immunisations have taken the gloss of needles for him.

Okay - dinner!!

Right, who has a passport? I propose that we all take off for some lovely, warm island somewhere, with lots of duty free alcohol, and leave the men at home with the kids.

Who's in?

Goosey - 你好

10 vials!!!! My PB was nine, with the last two having to be syringed out!!! As for the little ones, I hope as you walked out you made some comment such as "I told you what would happen if you touched that..." to make everyone in the waiting room look at you in horror.... happy.gif

Oooh Shadowess - I have a passport. I hope this doesn't sound like I am planning to run away immediately, but it does just happen to be sitting on the desk right next to the computer...and I also just got a wotmail about a $150 flaming deal per night for 2 adults at Daydream Island....the signs are converging.....

Howdy,

Shadowess: sounds like a great idea.

Goose: hope the rest of your pg runs smoothly and so does the move.

TNMN: As Mumabug said "Take care of yourself you are a priority". Tho it does not help the tiredness etc, even a five/ten minute sit down with a cup of coffee/tea sometimes gives me a boost for the next round.

Mumabug: Good luck with the renovations and the house selling.

Dinasaurus: How is Tedding feeling today? Probably still to early for a huge improvement but hope the meds are reducing the pain asap.

Hi to all I missed.

AFM: Oreo is doing well, growing way to fast!!She is sleeping well, feeding well and milestones all on track... have the lactose intolerance, reflux and colic sorted so all is good. Forgotten how time flies when they are this small.

Everything else - not so good but wont and cant bore you with the details atm (can see the relief on your faces now biggrin.gif ).

DF - we are here to be bored...see my previous epic renovation post as evidence of that!!!! This is a message bored, afterall...(yes, sometimes I really DO have to write/say these things for my own amusement).

Dino - I know poo is not as socially acceptable "issue" as something like reflux or eczema, but I do understand poo issues too well, so feel free to talk poo with me if you need to (although, it is a more common topic for babies than for a 6.5yo little girl sad.gif )

AFM - sorry, but Ihave to share. Ladybug slept through. blink.gif In the big cot in Little Bug's room. blink.gif She woke to feed at 11pm and then stirred at 4ish. I popped the dummy in and she didn't come in until almost 7am. Er...Himself didn't bring her in, that is. She is not quite that mobile yet!!!

Not sure how I feel about it all. blush.gif I am reassuring myself that it was a freak aberation, otherwise I will be overwhelmed by the fact that we were going to start to wean her off the dummy this week...but if it is dummy versus sleeping through.....

Hi girls,

Just a quck hello from me - still here and still very, very pregnant.

We hit 38 weeks yesterday, which was a bit of a milestone for me. After the boy was early and small, I just wanted to try to keep this bub in a bit longer.

Exactly 1 week to go (at the most). My caesar is booked for 7am next Thursday. I still can't believe I will have another bubba in a week.

Glad to hear pooing issues are looking up, poor Teddy sad.gif and sleeping thru is happening. As for renos.......

Building is stressful enough, let alone renovating and having to live in it.

Take care, girls, and look after yourselves. I will keep you all posted with any news in the next week.

I saw Mrs Cee had posted and wondered if there was any early baby news laughing2.gif Not long now Mrs Cee!

DF - I completely second what Mamabug said, we are here to be bored and to listen to all dramas whether they are baby related or not. It's our job original.gif So pleased Oreo is on the up for you, lactose intolerance is the pits and DS1 only had it short term sad.gif

Mamabug - We didn't have renovation discussions, we both decided what we wanted and went with that. Although, we didn't want anything especially opposite to each other so we're both happy. And NFW are we living here while it's done! Definitely moving out, hopefully on holidays for at least part of it.

Shadowess - Why yes I do have a passport, funny you should mention that. And better still, DH does NOT currently have a passport so there would need not be any discussion on the matter...

TNMN - As Mamabug said, been there - look after yourself and go to the GP. It took me reading back something I had written here to 'see' I might need help and trust me, only you can help yourself - no matter how useful the family, friends and so on may be, they can't make you feel better. I currently feel awful but that is a story for down the page a bit, I intend to feel better soon!

Goosey Goosey Goosey - I still can't believe you're pregnant again, just wonderful. I intend to live vicariously through you without getting the slightest bit jealous. How novel! I would write something clever in mandarin but I don't know how to convert the language back and forth so instead I will say I have a (very 90's) mandarin tattoo from my travels in my 20's which I am having removed soon. It is two figures which should (do) say "bright star" but apparently combined together also tell a very lovely story of that moment in the morning just before the sun peaks over the horizon and bathes the country in light and all is fresh and new for the day. It's nice. But my chinese students all comment on it's weirdness and given we live in a heavy chinese area I don't want my poor boys being picked on at school because their Mum is completely Bogan laughing2.gif

Where was I...

Right:

Teddy - Seriously, I have no idea what to do now. Both the meds I have been prescribed say not to give to kids under 2, I am following the doctors instructions in I am giving him half a sachet of Movicol-half not a full one, but adults and bigger kids take it 3-4 times a day, should I be giving him half a sachet 3-4 times a day? i don't know, so far only one a day but nothing's moving yet. The cream to numb his bum says 6mg per kilo (that's a LOT of cream) and the Dr said dab a tiny amount on the end of my finger and gently apply to the outside of...well, you know. So I'm doing what the Dr said, but again - how often? It's all so confusing, i can't go back to my GP as he failed to diagnose in the first place so probably isn't 'up' on fissures and I can read the internet as well as the next person, I'm not going back the the RCH for 5 hours to ask that question, I either make it up as I go along or try and find another GP who may or may not know about this stuff! Argh!! Where IS that parenting manual?

Me - My first lot of meds didn't work, the side effects were too great so I could not have increased to the required dose. So I have come off them to clear my system and I will start a new one then (probably tomorrow) but since "clearing my system" I realise just how bad I was/am as yesterday I got really angry with DS1 over something and despite stopping, counting, trying...I still managed to yell at him sad.gif I think the meds are the way to go, I hadn't realised until that moment but I had not done that since I started them. I hope the next lot don't give me big head aches.

DH - Also had some scary blood results during the week so his meds are still up and down like a yo yo, he's calling his specialist today so hopefully we can arrange more frequent blood tests than weekly, as the last one he had crashed too low and then they increased his meds but this weeks was so high he had to stop the meds immediately and wait two days before starting again. But they don't want more than weekly BTs? Madness.

OK - On that essay my ILs are back from Cairns tomorrow for a week so I shall be busy but undoubtedly still on line (I'm addicted!) Take care everyone original.gif

Jen, what about calling that health direct line thing? it's a nation wide 1800 number, and should be in Teddy's blue book. They have nurses staffing the number, and I believe they've just recently added some doctors as well. Might be worth asking them? I hope your new meds kick in soon, and you don't have the side affects.

Mamabug, yay for sleeping through! that's great! Your decorating sounds lovely, and so bright. I'm with you on the renos.. better to do it properly the first time, then not to have to worry about it again. Given you're at home during the day, can you just organise for some quotes to be done, and then you've got some basis for showing DH just what is involved? Just cos you get a quote doesn't mean you have to go with it.

MrsCee, not long to go! Good luck for Thursday. Have you got your name sorted out?

DF, okay, now I'm curious about what's not so good! Hope it isn't too bad...

Jen, 10 vials! that's bucketload of blood! I hear ya on the housework thing.. I've given up.

Megan, can DH or your parents or someone take the kids for a while for you? It seems to me that you really don't get a break... what are you doing with Caelan over the holidays? I'm home with Ruby on Monday if you want to throw him in with us, that'll at least give you half a break?

Alright, that's as far back as I can see.. hi everyone else!

Freya and I have the day off today- her childcare centre has to temporarily relocate while they renovate, so they've closed the centre for 2 days to move everything across. So, yay! day off! We went and had lunch with my team though, cos one of the girls is leaving. We also went and did a bit of shopping, got a few new warmer clothes now that it's cooled down a bit.

I found out on Tuesday from Ruby's teacher that she's getting an award at tomorrow's assembly... she let me know so that i could take her in especially for it (she doesn't go to pre-school on Fridays). I'm so proud of her! they choose one boy and one girl from each class, once a term, to give an award to, and she was chosen! So, that's tomorrow.

Still no crawling here.... there's some signs of pulling up though, so maybe we'll just go from sliding backwards, to standing with no crawling...

Anyway, better get going.

Thanks Shadowess, I called nurse on call in between the two Drs visits. I have called or seen nearly everyone!

He's had his movicol this morning and still nothing, I'll see what happens today and make a call after that. Sigh.

DinoJ - if I've got my memory staright, the movicol helps soften the stool, but it doesn't mean it will soften the hardened 'plug'. Have you also been given something to help ease/lubricate the way for the impacted stool? Did you say you had suppositories? If so, did you use them? It can take a couple to help get things going. Also, with the softener, you may experience some faecal leakage around the impaction, which isn't actually a motion, so don't be fooled into thinking that things are moving if you start to see some output in Teddy's nappies. It can be an indicator that the impaction isn't shifting; that said, you will know it when the stool shifts.

When Biggest Bug was impacted earlier this year, it took about four days before the Movicol started to work (she was on one sachet of M-half/day), but that was after two weeks of Parachoc which helps lubricate things. So, I think it is very much a dual pronged attack of lubricant and softener that might show results in a couple of days. Of course on top of plenty of fluids.
