Hi all
More of a curiousity thing - I have taken him to the dr last week, however we had no green boogies at the time.. DS has had a couple of days waking up with green boogies - i know green means infection.. He has: No temp - has one last week for a couple days - Dr put it down to teething Alert and generally happy No issues with poos/wees Dribble like no tomorrow (waiting for some more teeth to appear soon I guess) A slight cough at night - very ad hoc We had the humidifier/vapouriser thing on last night which aside from wetting the walls, made him sleep well after we put it on. He had been coughing a little upon going down for his night sleep, so we also raised his mattress and popped some baby vicks on him. I havnt had to bring out the saline spray yet.. I guess my question is.. when do you worry about green boogies for babies? He is just over 9 months.. and started daycare a month ago, so a slight cold on and off, to be expected Ive been told. |

Green = infection isn't true
He's fine, it's a cold, there will be plenty more As long as he seems generally ok then I wouldn't worry. Given he's just started daycare I'd expect a lot of green snot this winter (we're in the same boat!). Fess nasal spray helps congestion so they can sleep. The green boogies can last for a long time. DD had a cold the weekend before last where she was miserable but now feel fine, just has green snot. Before this she had it for a few weeks. She started child care in January and been on and off sick since.

I always thought that green/colored boogers meant that the infection was passing.
Take for example my DS, who is just now getting over a cold. His snot started out clear and watery, then thick and clear, and now it's kinda thick and yellow and he's feeling better again. I'm no Dr, but, so get those boogers checked out if youre worried! |
