We had a bath put in almost 6 months ago (our house had previously been modified for a disabled person so had a hobless shower). Because the bathroom is so big I initially had a child's paddling pool (like a clam shell) under the shower (the shower has a detachable head on a lead). Then I used to put DS1 (3.5) in the shower with me and do the newborn at another time in the baby bath, or in the shower as well when he got a bit bigger (usually with no help, it was a bit of a juggling act and I nearly dropped the baby a few times!).

So yeah I'd say a bath is important unless you can shower the kids separately or have a partner to help you. The bath is also good for occupying an older child for a period of time while cooking or cleaning up dinner!

Insert something witty.
You can shower a baby..... We have a bath and never use it. We shower all three, often at the same time with one of us.

We shower more than bathe here but I love a bath myself in winter so I would miss it.

We got rid of our bath 18 months ago. Our youngest, now 3.5 years has showers or has baths in the laundry tub which he loves.

We've been here just over 4yrs and have no bathtub. DS2 was born about 9mths after we moved in here LOL
Our house is also a highset house, laundry is downstairs and very basic (laundry tub, washing machine and lots of insects LOL), bathing a baby in the laundry tub was not really an option.

I showered with DS2 from the day we came home from hospital, I also did this alone as DH wasn't able to take time off work and actually went interstate when DS2 was 4days old. I did have a baby bath but I found I used that more once he could sit up and splash around. Our shower is quite long so there was room to have the baby bath in the bottom of the shower and let bub splash around while I showered. The few times I used it before DS2 could sit up I just sat it on top of the bathroom basin, there's just enough room, the bath I used had a plug in the bottom so I was able to just turn it a little bit and drain the water straight into the basin, much better than hurting my back trying to carry a full bath or going back & forth with a jug to empty it.

The older kids love baths but cope just fine with showers, the 3 of them are actually in the shower together right now (yes, unsupervised ohmy.gif LOL). They rarely stay anywhere else, I think they have had maybe 3 or 4 baths in the last 4yrs.

We have a bath but we don't even use it. DD prefers to shower. We rarely use the bath in our house at all.
