Hi again...

I'm 36 weeks & 4 days, midwives sent me for a scan to check my babies growth as they were. Oncerned he was measuring small due to them testing with the tape coming up 3 weeks below. Ormal growth.

Scan showed he weighs. 5lbs 11Oz ... I'm just wondering from experience will they want to induce me or keep him in there?
I think that he will be ok that's a healthy weight for 36 weeks yes?

Can't offer much advice but I can tell you that at 35 weeks 5 days my son was born at 5 pound 9.

ETA Spont premature labour, not induced due to size or anything

I had a prem labour at 35weeks he was born 5lb 9 also and it was mentioned in NICU a few times that he was a very good size. I would assume theywill doa follow up scan to judge if there is growth happening inbetween scans and if so i think they will leave you.

HI OP,
I was induced at 38wks and 2 days due to a concern over bub's
size. He was only measuring 33wks at this time. When bub was born he weight exactly what your bub is now, 5lb 11oz. Turned out there was an issue with my placenta. It will depend on your dr/midwife and if they are concerned by the size. My OB was concerned and that is why I was induced.

That's not excessively small for your gestation, I think all of mine measured smaller than that with scans around the same time for the same reason. They would have checked cord blood flow too?

FWIW all of mine we born spontaneously at 40 weeks exactly, weighing 7lb 2, 7lb 10, 7lb 9. Ultrasounds are not always accurate.

I had concern over size in my last pg. I had regular scans (7-10 days apart) to closely monitor growth. In my case, my babe seemed to 'stall' for a couple of weeks then kicked on again and was born at 38+ weeks at a very respectable 3050g (6lb11oz).

I was induced due to a variety of reasons including antibodies which may have caused issues with the placental function at term (I also had a rapidly deteriorating placenta in a previous pg).

My ob was basically monitoring closely and was weighing up the tipping point between in v better out - I was actually booked in to be induced at 37w, but my babe had another little spurt, so she was allowed to keep doing her thing! She was a healthy babe and continues to be so with no issues feeding etc.

(That said, the constant uncertainty was not good for the head...feel free to PM as I do understand what your mind must be going through.)
