Just wondering what you do if your toilet is another floor? DS1's bedroom is on the top floor, and I have a safety gate up since the stairs are quite steep and I don't want him walking down himself in the dark.

Do you put a potty in their room with a night light on? I'm a bit reluctant to leave a light on for him, as he will probably get up and start playing with the toys in his room and not sleep!

I guess if that is the only option then I will have to leave the light on in case he needs to go. I guess I answered my own question! Just wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

In this case I would leave the potty outside his door in the hall with the hall light on.

You can get night lights that work on movement sensors so it would only come on if he got out of bed wihch might help

Personally I just had the potty in the bedroom, no extra night lights or anything. I found that that light from her bedside clock was enough when she woke in the night for her to see by.

I get DD up and take her for a wee before I go to bed, and if she wakes during the night I tell her to call out for me and I will take her to the toilet.

Its been fine, she hardly wakes and usually when she does I'm busting to go anyway so we both go.

I'm so not doing a potty if I don't need to, all that extra cleaning isn't appealing
