Hi all
I had to have a 3rd trimester growth scan as I have high blood pressure and GD. Apart from checking bubs growth, What else does this scan look for?

I had a 3rd trimester growth scan with Ds2, as I kept going into labour and eh we're continuously stopping it. All they did was check the size and also asked if we wanted to know the sex, which we just reconfirmed as we already were told.
Good luck

I had one of these at 32 weeks due to meds I was on for the pregnancy. They checked the growth, blood flow from the placenta, position of placenta and whether cervix was closed. That was all. I was told there was a fair bit of variation in growth at the later stages but they were able to tell me how much DD2 would most likey weigh at full term and they were right

All the above was checked at my 37 week, but the primary reason I had the scan was to check the placenta as I had some placenta very low to my cervix at my 20 week scan and this needed to be checked.

The 3rd trimester scan is used for a range of reasons as a check, you wouldn't have one normally unless there was an issue the OB wanted to check that could result in issues with the delivery or bring an induction forward.

Ta Da!
I had a growth/well being scan done last week due to OC. They checked bubs growth which was plotted on the graph for OB - so HC, length, estimated weight, etc.
They also checked the placenta to make sure it was/is still working well, the amount of fluid and the umbilical cord blood flow etc.

We were also asked if we wanted to know/already knew the gender so we could have found that out too.
