I don't belong in this forum, but just read about this program in the paper and thought it was a wonderful idea. Hopefully it will catch on in Australia so more people will have access in future years.

Save me Barry!
I also read this in the paper and I also think it's fantastic. I am wondering what parents of children on the spectrum think

Although, in explaining the article to my daughter I nearly revealed that Santa isn't real ohmy.gif I had to tell her that Santa takes appointments for some children

Love Christmas spirit, sensitivity, and slightly out of the box thinking all combined. Thanks for sharing, Schnitzel. original.gif

What a great idea!

In Adelaide we were one of 15 families that got to see Santa at the Magic cave organised through Autism SA and we got an hour prior to the stores opening. I tell you the relief of not having to line up for three hours (which I probably wouldn't have done anyway lol) and being able to give time for the kids to warm up to Santa was great.

They are looking at doing again next year but going to make it 30 families instead original.gif

We still ended up with a family photo as DD wouldn't sit on his lap but the experience itself was so much more relaxed.

It's a great idea, but no amount of sensitivity would have ever gotten Austin closer than about 20m peeking out from behind something so as not to be seen by Santa lol,.

I was lucky. Due to his intense belief in all things magical Santa was never an issue for Boy 1.

We have some beautiful photos over the years.

But I do think this is truly a wonderful idea and I hope it catches on throughout the world.

What a great idea. Our local rotary used to have a fundraiser where you could book santa to come to your house for 15 mins or so and take as many photos as you wanted with your own camera. My parents did this once my teenager brother was too embarrassed to be seen in public with us and Santa.
