My DD has always been a fussy eater and we are trying to get her to eat veggies and fruit etc.
We have been strict with her and if she doesn't eat her meal she doesn't get anything else until the next meal. The worst meal is dinner, she will look at it and scream no. She will then go to bed hungry. Anyway we have been doing this for 2 weeks and she has since lost 400grams and I dont see her changing soon cause she is so so stubbon. What have you done that has worked?? Of course if she drops too much more weight I will take her to the doctors. Oh she eats everything at daycare. They say she is a great eater. Thanks for any help. |

I don't do food battles. I would offer her dinner either at lunchtime or when she gets home if she is at daycare. How often is she at daycare? If you know she isn't going to like it then offer her something she will eat even if it is just some scrambled eggs. Put some veges on the side and if she doesn't eat them then don't worry. She will one day.
Most toddlers are fussy eaters. Most toddlers thrive. Most toddlers will grow up and eat fruit and veges. |

She goes to daycare 2 days a week.
I always put something on her plate that she likes but she still refuse the whole meal at times. If I let her eat what she wanted she would eat nothing but wheet bix, egg, chicken nuggets, sausage, biscuts, cake, chocolate, icecream, cheese, yogurt and custard. I dont make a fuss with her, I just tell her that thats her meal and if she's hungry she can eat that. |

I understand your frustration, my DS has been refusing fruit and vegetables for a good 6 months. Everyday it feels like ground hog day serving vegetables which he always leaves. He is also very plain in what he eats, chicken, beef, lamb, cheese, yogurt, toast & biscuits but very plain - oh and pop corn, would eat it all day long if i let him. I was also told don't fuss, keep trying and offer them and if possible get him involved - none of this has worked.....
I wish there was a magic switch, Goodluck just wanted to let you know I think this is a normal problem from what I have been told. This post has been edited by nicknick: 07/05/2012, 04:44 PM |

My DD1 is exactly the same, but she can't afford to lose weight as she's only 10kg at 2.3yrs. I'd be mixing puree'd fruit in with the weetbix. Or veg with scrambled egg & just going with the flow. No battles! Ask her what she wants? This sometimes works with my DD. Today she asked for ham & yoghurt, so that's what she got. I'm over the fight some days!
