Tired, hot and with a 2year old not wanting to go to bed, after finally getting both girls to sleep, decided that was the night to sample the first 2 wines.
First up was the Yellow tail Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
Had a lovely fruity smell and was light and easy to drink, very easy. After my glass, body tension left, conversation flowed with my other taste tester...DH.
Loved this wine and was perfect on the hot night. It does say it's nice with salad etc, but as it was after dinner all we found was snow drops, chocolate covered marshmellows. And i have to say it went well with that too lol
After that tried the Pinot Grigio. Nice light Aroma and had a nice acidity. Really should've drunk this one first though. DH liked this one more, where i liked the first one more. for me the Semillon Sav. Blanc was a winner on a hot night. Sadly after 2 glasses the party boat had sailed and i was ready for Bed LOL. Onto Reds tonight.

I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 wines. I had white one night and red the next. I am predominantly a white wine drinker so I was very surprised to find that the Merlot was my favourite of the 4. It was very smooth and went down a treat. It was gone so quick I was wishing for a full size bottle. Definitely one I'll buy again. Thanks very much for the opportunity to try the wines.

I tried the pinot last night - very nice and very easy to drink.

Tonight was the SSB - lovely, went quite nicely with my chicken risotto. I will be looking for this one in the bottle shop.

Tomorrow, the reds...I'll be back

Firstly I just loved receiving my Wine Kit, it felt like Christmas Thanks Yellow Tail and EB!
I am impressed with both Whites and tasted the two in one night, I am currently sipping on the Merlot and it has my mouth watering in between sips, mmmmm liquid velvet, DH hasn't said a word since he poured his Shiraz and he says it runs a close second to me when I asked for a sample he gave me the smallest sip....again lovely

I started on the reds 2 nights ago - I LOVED the shiraz! It was so smooth, and I could really taste the spices and figs mentioned in the tasting notes. I will certainly be buying a big bottle of this in the near future. Not so fussed on the merlot at first - seemed a bit 'thin', but after a few sips, it improved. Still, probably wouldn't buy it given my preference for the shiraz.

Tonight we had the whites. I really enjoyed the sem sauv blanc - it was really refreshing and has that gorgeous passionfruit flavour and smell. Definately would like to drink more of this. Disappointed with the Pinot Gringo. This is normally a wine that I love, but I found it to be very acidic. Of the 4, this was the only one that didn't seem to be matching up to the tasting notes - perhaps its just my palate?

Thanks for the opportunity to try these wines. The little bottle is an excellent idea - great for picnics especially.

Both of the whites were lovely - I did prefer the Pinot Grigio though. It's a very light wine, which was very fruity and very, very easy to drink. That's not to say that the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc wasn't also a great drink. It was very refreshing after a long day.

I'd definitely buy either of these wines at the shops.

Onto the reds this weekend

We had the Reds the other night. First was the Pinot Gringo. It did smell nice. I personally didn't mind it. DH wasn't a fan and said the after taste wasn't flash. DH loves his reds.
Though then we tried the Shiraz. (LOL shee-raz) well it was lovely and sweet and had a great after taste. I'm not a huge red fan, but really liked this. I kept looking in my glass just wishing there were more in it. The Shiraz was a winner all round. This is one we'll get a few bottles for the wine rack of as we both loved it.

Well it's been a few days since I drank my wines, and i'm embarassed to say they were all consumed on the same night

First one out was the semillon sauvignon blanc, it was light, refreshing and easy to drink, and didn't have that bitter taste that puts me off a lot of wines, I would have been happier if it was a bit sweeter (but then I make the same complaint of a lot of wines )

Next I tried the pinot grigio, wasn't as big a fan of this one, it was quite acidic as others have commented, and it gave me almost a fizzing sensation when drinking it, like champagne but without the bubbles?

Third for the night was the shiraz, I loved this one for the smell alone, beautiful, woody and oaky! The wine didn't quite taste as good as it smelled, didn't have the same depth to it but it was still a nice drink and i'd happily buy it again.

Lastly was the merlot, I'm usually a big fan of merlot's but this one was a bit bland (though that might have been the effect of all the others before it). It was very easy to drink but a bit boring to drink. I'd like to try it again on its own rather than after a shiraz and I think i'd like it a lot more.

I loved the merlot and the sauvignon blanc, really nice. The pinot grigio was a bit florally if that makes any sense and the Shiraz had a bit too much tannin flavour in it for me. Overall they were quite good though and I would definitely buy the merlot one again

Thanks EB & [Yellow Tail] - it was a lovely surprise to have the box arrive on our door step.
The day the box arrived, was an overcast day here, and DH arrived home and was happy to see it there and suggested we try a red that night with dinner.

We started with the Merlot - which was 2 standard drinks in the bottle - and DH poured it into our "large" wine glasses.. ummm, that made us realise how small a standard drink actually is!!! oops.

it was a lovely warm drink .. we really enjoyed it.. hit the spot

The next day was a lovely hot sunny day, so .. we cracked open the pinot grigio - a crisp & tasty white, just right for a summers day.

yet to hit the shiraz...


we really appreciated the booklet that accompanied the box so we had a bit of info around what we were drinking. - except my DH couldn't help but think that someone had stuffed up the "mail merge" with the square brackets in the logo [ yellow tail ] written throughout the text.

I really enjoyed both the white wines over a few nights. I don't usually have a glass of wine unless out for dinner, so it was nice to be able to open a bottle that wouldn't be wasted after the first glass! I liked the size, even if it is only a sample size!

Not being a big fan of red, I gave them a go but my DH enjoyed them far more than I! He preferred the merlot.

As I haven't had a drink in quite a while thanks to baby duties, we decided to make a bit of an event of tasting and took the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc into the spa.

A wonderful full taste, which would have been lovely with dinner. Definately on the shopping list for the next dinner party.

A few days later, it was the Pinot Grigio's turn. I much preferred this wine as a stand alone drink and again will look out for this when next at the bottle shop.

Haven't made it to the reds yet, but if the whites are anything to go by, they will be great!!

hubby and I really enjoyed the merlot too. the whites were also quite nice, especially in these "hot" autumn evenings! good size too - just saw that the will retail for $4.99 which is very reasonable!

Enjoyed the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc with our dinner of Garlic Prawns in a Creamy White Wine Sauce. Shared with DH although was a bit sad I had to share haha. It was crisp, fresh, fruity and refreshing. Went very well with the prawns.

The next night we shared the Pinot Grigio with some gourmet pizza. Not as enjoyable as the SSB but still liked it. Agree with someone re the fizzing sensation? A bit strange and not something I want in my wine.

Tried the Shiraz last night with a meatball and vegetable dinner. Oh so beautiful - so smooth and velvety! We just adore Shiraz.

Merlot will be tonight.... can't wait

Overall have thoroughly enjoyed being able to try these wines and look forward to buying the SSB and Shiraz. Unfortunately wouldn't buy the Pinot Grigio.

I found the Merlot to be the best of the four, although admittedly my husband drank the shiraz, so I didn't get to try that. The whites were easy to drink, but lacking in substance compared to what I am used to drinking. My husband drank the shiraz over two nights, he wasn't overly impressed.

I really enjoyed the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, it was easy to drink with great flavour.
I didnt enjoy the Pinot Grigio as much but it was still a smooth easy drinking wine.
My husband and I both enjoyed the Merlot, We wouldnt purchase the Shiraz, it just wasnt for us.

Thanks EB, I really enjoyed all the wines.

My favorite was the pinot grigio. It was very light and fruity.

The reds were also nice, but I probably wouldn't buy them as they were both a little heavier than the wine I normally drink.

Thank you EB and Yellow Tail wines I loved sampling these wines my definite favourite would have to be the Merlot and this is coming from someone who normally only drinks white wine. I will definitely be on the lookout for the Yellow Tail Merlot next time i'm in a liquor store it was so easy to drink the bottle was finished too quickly so I am looking forward to a full sized bottle I loved the rich velvety flavour it was divine. The Shiraz was also enjoyable I loved the rich fruity flavor another one I would drink again. My favourite white was the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc it was lovely and fresh and crisp it went down a treat after a long hot day! While I did not enjoy the Pinot Grigio quite as much as the others it was not a bad wine just not as impressive as the others.

Ohhh, it was like christmas getting my 4 bottles delivered to my door!

Loved them all, especially the Pinot Grigio! Have been seeking it out in the bottle shop so I can have more more more!!!

After an extremely rough day at work, my hubby came home in a bit of a mood. It just so happened the courier had been to my door step, and so, after chilling all day, I cracked open the Sav Blanc. It was fruitier than I would normally enjoy, but on that night it actually really soothed. My hubby is a bit of a sweet wine drinker, so he really liked it.

That weekend we cracked open the Pinot Grigio. A bit more bite to it, and not as smooth as other Pinot Grigios I have had before, but it was still really refreshing. It was had with a salad for lunch, and was nice for a midday drink.

The Reds were tried over the course of 3 nights. I am a merlot drinker usually - and I thoroughly enjoyed the Yellow Tail one! It was rich and strong with a hint of pepper and spice. It was fantastic.

The Shiraz was more of my husbands taste. It was a touch too strong for me, but he loved the bite.

Thanks Yellowtail and EB... they were great. I think the Sav Blanc and the Merlot were my favourites! A nice choice to take to a bbq or a dinner with friends!

First cracked the Semillion Sauv Blanc - really nice taste and after note. Will actually buy this from now on.

Pinot Gris - Not usually a fan as too fruit and overly sweet but this was just nice on a hot day. Had a long day at work, hot bus ride home and really enjoyed this wine.

Merlot - Hubby loved this one. He is already a big merlot fan and polished the bottle off real quick. Again he will actually buy this from now on. Very smooth taste.

Shiraz - Again hubby's domain. Quite spicy but very drinkable!

The Pinot Grigio had a delightful after fizz that I've never before experienced, it was my stand-out favourite!

I really liked the whites in my wine pack - The Semillon Sauvignon blanc was the stand out for me. I liked the fizz of the Pinot Grigo. I will def buy either one of those (do coles stock them?)

The reds were so so. Generally I love a good Merlot and pass on a Shiraz but I enjoyed the Shiraz a great deal more than the Merlot - The Merlot was actually tipped down the sink

Thank you for the wine sample pack. I really enjoyed them all to be honest. Though the Pinot Grigo was my favourite.

Will be buying that one again for sure.

I've never had Pinot Grigo before, it smelt like pear cidar. I was so excited to try it. Well the smell was a lot better then the taste. I would not buy this wine.

The Merlot was okay. Not really a merlot drinker.

The Sauv Blanc was also just okay.

The Shiraz would have to be the winner in our house. (it went very well with Indian). It was spicy and had that full body taste, that all Shiraz should have. We would definately purchase this one again.

I drank the whites and found the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc to be very sweet. It was nice but I couldn't have had anymore of it. I liked the Pinot Grigio much better & will look for it when next in the bottle shop. I like the idea of having a small drink handy. LOL.

The winner in this house was the merlot, loved it !!!
I'm the only one in my house to drink wine so the size was prefect too, will definitely look for them at the bottle shop.
