Hello
I have been slightly hesitant in joining a group of any kind - online or otherwise! Basically I am finding it very hard to be happy happy joy joy about my pregnancy. I am 38 years old and my only other child turned 21 earlier this year, so it was a very unexpected piece of news! Like most unexpected pregnancies this one has not happened at the most convenient of times, but I have come to accept my pregnancy and will try to just take each day as it arrives.
It also has not been the easiest of pregnancies - with severe morning sickness for 3 months, and now pelvic problems which mean I am having to massively cut my hours down, in my main job (I am an Emergency Nurse).
Currently I am on 2 days bed rest to try and reduce my pelvic inflammatory pain, without ending up totally off my feet!
So I have decided to join up because - advice - support - words of encouragement may be required at some time.

Regards Funkibubl

Hi Funkibubl,

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Babies don't always wait for the best times to come along do they?

I am 27 and having my second, my first is 12 months old, I am due on the 20th of November.

My mother was 39 when she had my youngest brother, her oldest child was 16 at the time.

Feel free to pop into the chat thread, that's where most of the chatting happens. We also have a private facebook page if you have facebook.

I hope your pain settles down soon so you can enjoy your pregnancy.

Welcome Funkibubl,

I think EDZ said it all. It must be a difficult time for you. I'm having my first baby due November 20 and I'm 37 years old. For me, I can't imagine having this boy at a younger age. I hope that the pain and stress ease for you and your little one. I'll be curious to see how you are on the chat forum.

Take care,
Turquoise

Hi Funkibubl,

Hope things are settling down for you and you are starting to feel better about it all. I am pregnant with a 10 yr gap and although this one was planned have also had some mixed feelings about starting again.

They say it's all worth it in the end...   rolleyes.gif

Good luck smile1.gif

Welcome to the rollercoaster, funkibubl!
I'm also 38 and my only other living child will be 19yrs old when this one is born, so I feel you!

It's funny how our bodies aren't taking it in stride, as they (probably) did when we were teenagers, but I console myself with the fact that I'm infinitely better "set up" in life now, than when I had DS1. Then, I was living with my parents and everyone was against the idea. Now, I'm happy, self sufficient, have house and awesome life partner. I guess that's why fate plonked a baby in my belly too.

If you want to talk to another old duck who's in a similar situation, I'm always here! original.gif

Its a shame that bub didn't come at a better time but I reckon that baby must have been pretty desperate to have you as a mum if you've gotten pregnant now. I know how hard pregnancy is when its planned so I really feel for you. I hope the rest of the pregnancy isn't too hard on you. Just wait till you see that gorgeous little bub come out and it'll all be worth it original.gif
