Feel a bit of Murphy's law here. We are one of the small percentage still BF after 6 months. Here I was planning to keep going until 2 years old, only to have DS wean himself at 10.5 months!

It all happened so fast and suddenly I realised that yesterday morning when he smiled at me when I offered DS a feed that he was done with the BF journey. No coaxing has got him back on it, so I have to accept it.

I will miss BF my DS. :-(

I know it is normal to feel sad. Just wondering how you coped with your LO self weaning?

It may just be a temporary breast refusal phase.
DD gets distracted and sometimes refuses to BF and went for a whole week without BFing when she had a cold recently.

I just pump when she refuses and give her EBM.

If you are not ready to stop BFing yet try pumping and EBM feeds for a while and see if your DS becomes interested again.

Good luck

Mine both self weaned - one at 10.5 months just like yours and one at 6 months.  Both times I got a bit sad and tried to eke it out for a few more days, but the extra feeds were just such a battle, especially with DD2 - struggling, giggling, looking around etc that I soon lost the emotion.

If you want to keep trying then do what the previous poster said.  For me, I looked on the bright side of feeling as though my body was my own, my boobs fitting into my old bras, other people being able to help with milk feeds etc.  Fairly superficial, but all quite cheering little things in what was still a fairly sleepless time with DD2.

This happened to me at 8 months but dd was ill which I didn't realise until she refused to bf.
I was very upset and stressed, she didn't return to the breast once her infection was resolved but I chose to express for her until she was 23 months. She initially wouldn't take breast, bottle or cup so as you can imagine I just had to spoon feed her so I mixed ebm into her solids.
She continued like this until she started to cup feed ebm and water from 10 months onwards.
Babies usually don't self wean at this age, its probably something else rather than bub "deciding" that bfing is not wanted/needed anymore.
How are you feeding? If you are bottle feeding there might not be much incentive to return to the breast as there is an alternative suck feed.
Perhaps avoid bottles and use a cup or breast (if taken)?
The links below might help.
All the best.
