in woolies milk section today i saw a carton (like a milk carton) of egg whites.  i suppose it is handy for making pavs etc, but how on earth do you measure out the required amount?

I always wonder where all the yolks end up though LOL

I used it for my bulking (bodybuilding) shakes.  Great source of protein.

You weigh it. I have quite a few recipes that say ues x amount of egg white

Cafes have been using them for years, so much quicker than seperating eggs. They usually tell you how many egg whites equal a carton and you can measure it out

I have never see that in the shops - I still can't believe they sell frozen chopped up onion.  I use a lot of yolks for making icecream, and wonder what to do with all the whites.  I usually end up adding them to rissoles or to whole eggs in omelettes or something.

1 egg white is about 27g which is about 30mL, depending on the size of the egg and how good you are at separating them original.gif I used them the other day with no problems.  However, I think the main market for them is people after the protein, and for that you wouldn't measure in quite the same way.

What's even more amazing is that they're imported - so onions are shipped, frozen, across the world, to save someone the effort of chopping.

Yep original.gif  I use them for my bulking shakes (for the protein) and it's a lot easier than separating the eggs myself - with the added benefit the frozen whites cool the shake right down.
