Hi Guys

We are expecting baby #4 and these are the names we like

Boys
Elii Garry
Kayden Garry
Ethan Garry

Girls

it will either be
Kaitlyn Nevaeh
Nevaeh Kaitlyn

Nevaeh means heaven, and my beautiful Gran passed away in January..we would see it as a gift from heaven from my Gran

Sooo which way sounds better? We will of course wait and see, and if its a baby girl, then see what she looks like but I don't want to tell anyone in real life our choices so would love some opions

Thanks

Seeing you boys names I like Nevaeh as a first name. All 4 children with 6 letter names, very cute. Also love that it has special meaning for you and I am sure she will apprecaite it too and see the symbolisim of her name.

Boys names, I vote Kayden first but also love Ethan. Sorry not a fan of Elii, but Eli is fine. If you want to follow your 6 letter theme, how about Elijah and call him Eli??

Is that Elii intentionally with two i's? I like Eli more than Ethan but Ethan more than Elii.

I think I like Caitlin Nevaeh best but I guess you're avoiding two C initials, as you have a Connor? I actually don't get as hung up on that as many EBers do. Or I'd use a name that's traditionally spelt with a K, as in Kaila/Kathleen or even just Kay etc.

From your list, I like Ethan and Kaitlyn. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy!

Have to admit that Nevaeh tops my most hated names list, so of your two choices I would much rather see it in the MN position.

Although have you thought about using your Gran's actual name?

I vote Ethan from your boys' list.

I'm sorry to say this, but I think Nevaeh is a bit of a joke of a name. It doesn't mean heaven; it's just heaven spelt backwards.

Is there another way you could honour your Gran? Use her first or middle name, for instance? Or use a name like Hope?

This!

I'm sure your gran's name was lovely, if you're going to honour her, use her name not 'neavaehcauseitsheavenspeltbackwards' (why is that name always introduced like that btw)

Totally agree with this. Nevaeh doesn't really mean anything.

I would choose Eli Garry and Caitlin, and find a different middle name.

This - maybe there's another name you could use with the actual meaning 'heaven'?

I think Nevaeh sounds gorgeous. I seriously do not understand why there is such hatred for it.  shrug.gif

Just wondering if you are intentionally going for an 'alphabet' theme with your boys names??
If so, then I'd choose Ethan over Eli otherwise definately Kayden!

And Kaitlyn is the girls pick by a long long way.

Though there were eight girls named Nevaeh in the United States in 1999, Nevaeh was an extremely rare given name before singer Sonny Sandoval of the rock group P.O.D. named his daughter Nevaeh in 2000. He was then featured in the fall of that year on the television program MTV Cribs, and use of the name became widespread. (source: wikipedia).

To the PP that doesn't understand why there's such dislike of the name... I can't speak for anyone else, but I couldn't use a name that's really only been in existence as a name for the past decade or so. And that was coined by spelling a word backwards. And that became popular due to being an internet meme.

OP, if you want to use the name so badly, why not just use Heaven as a middle name. At least 'heaven' actually means 'heaven'  wink.gif

If you call her Nevaeh as a first name, be prepared that she will deal with the heavenspeltbackwards thing right through school.

since you have b,c,d,  you should have a E name

6 letters

what about Elijah, Eliott, Emmett

I think Katelyn is nice - what was your Gran's name and mn

I dont mind Neveah - all names start somewhere,  I dont have an obsession with the age of a name and I can think of much more difficult names for a child to carry.

Heaven, for one.

If a name feels significant to you, use it.

I don't dislike Nevaeh any more than I dislike a lot of trendy made-up names, it's NMS but I don't even think it's the worst trendy American name.

It's got no gender confusion, no extraneous letter y's, has one correct and generally - though admittedly not always - used spelling (heaven backwards), isn't offensive to any minority groups, isn't the name of a disease and has no widely used nickname that means penis or prostitute.

So, in the scheme of things, it's doing aiight.

I'm not totally againist Nevaeh - it does sound pretty, but I do find it a bit I don't know.  The whole heaven spelt backwards thing the poor girl would face her whole life would drive me insane.

Sorry but I also don't think it's a way of honouring your Gran.  If you want to honour her then use her first, middle (or sometimes last/maiden) name to truely do that.

For a boys name I noticed the B,C,D & 6 letter theme straight away so I think Elijah would fit perfectly.

I think the suggestions of Eliott and Emmett are great too and will add Elorah, Edison, Edmund, Elaine, Elissa/Elyssa, Elliot, Elodie, Eloise, Ericka and Edward to them.

Other then all that Kayden and Kaitlyn would be my picks.

Good luck

I've never understood the appeal of a backwards Heaven - isn't it rather like Hell?

Anyhoo... Ethan is great and goes very well with your other boy's names.

I prefer Caitlyn/Caitlin

thanks for all the replies;

My Gran's name was Doreen no middle name, and she was very religious hence the wanting to use the name Nevaeh...I also think its a beautiful pretty name too. If we manage to have a baby girl this time, it will be a gift from heaven in our eye's for lots of reasons but mainly because we weren't even trying for a baby this time but all desperatly wanted a little girl.
The A,B,C,D was not intentinal...either was the 6 letters LOL and I ment Eli, with one i.

Anyways we love the name Nevaeh and will be using as either her first name or middle name, just wanted to see which sound better...wether it really means Heaven or not it will to us and I love that meaning behind it. As for Kaitlyn I have loved the name for 21 years...since my sisters friend had a baby named Caitlyn. Still deciding on the spelling..

I prefer Caitlyn/Kaitlyn (not fussed on the spelling for it). I'm not a fan of Nevaeh, but if you like it, go for it! So Kaitlyn Nevaeh would be my pick.

Eli is nice, and Ethan is ok.

Eli wins for me.

And Caitlin Nevaeh.

I have to say my favourite name that means "heavenly" is Celestina and my favourite angel name for girls is Seraphina. They are maybe a little frillier than what you were going for though.

Seraphina is beautiful! But my brother just had a baby named Saphira, so pretty much the same. Thanks though

I would actually vote for using just Heaven before using Nevaeh, which I don't like the sound of and it's made up.

I was also going to say Heaven might be an appropriate middle name to use, as an alternative. I think the middle name spot if great for slightly unusual names that have a strong personal connection for the parents.

Otherwise this list of names that mean 'gift' or 'gift from God' might have some inspiration if you are looking for it. I like Dorothea (or just Thea) and Adora (or Pandora).

I love Eli for a boy.

Liora (god's gift of light) is also quite lovely.

yeah, but how do you say it?   LOL

I just read it as never - but I am sure that's not right.

I have never heard it said out loud, have only ever seen it written on EB.
