Definitely 2 syllables.  And Violet Mae is lovely original.gif

Thanks rubybrierly I thought I'd entered a parallel universe where syllable wasn't spelled syllable anymore wink.gif.

Hmm not sure if I would call it 2 or 3 syllables, I think I say it with 3 but not really drawn out, IYKWIM. Sort of like Cameron, I call that 3 syllables, but I don't sound out Cam-eh-ron, so it could be mistaken for 2 syllables. I'm probably making no sense.

Violet Mae works really well as a combo original.gif.

I say 2 but I'm not known for over-enunciation.

I really like Violet Mae.

It's usually pronounced with two syllables in everyday usage.

I prefer May but as a combo I absolutely love it!  wub.gif

tres-chic - Mae is a family name, also my middle names, as our first son has DH's middle name as his middle name.

Beautiful choice!

I say it 'Vy-let'. Sometimes I do sneak the 'O' in there too wink.gif

#17 Space Ninja Jetson

Three. My grandmother was a Violet and she cracked the sh*ts if you pronounced it "VY-let".

That said, the o is a schwa and thus barely pronounced.

I think "Violet Mae" is beautiful.

2 and it's very sweet

#19 emlis22

Posted 18 April 2012 - 04:41 PM

I used to say Via-let, but then thought I was wrong, so made an effort to say Vy-let.. Which I don't think is nearly as pretty, and sounds too much like Violent to me.

ETA: Great choice BTW OP
