Hi,
I want to buy one of those infrared baby thermometers which gives an instant temperature reading when you point it at baby's head or in their ear. Seems so much easier than the slow underarm one we have, which she hates and won't stay still for anyway. Does anybody have one that they recommend, and where did you buy it? There is quite a big price range and I don't know which one to go for. Alternatively does anybody have one that they definitely wouldn't recommend and why?
Thanks original.gif

I used a couple of different types (of infrared thermometers) at work (I'm a gp) and I think they were really crummy.  Unreliable readings.

I use the Braun tympanic (ie. goes in the ear canal) (professional one at work; domestic version at home) and really like them.  They're quick and accurate (as long as they're inserted correctly).

Edited: just to add clarity

I have a Braun Thermoscan which I have had since DD1 was a baby. I love it. My Dr has one that looks the same. I have never had a problem with it and have only needed to change the batteries once so far.

A few years ago my mum had to buy an ear thermometer and initially bought an Omron but for some reason it wasn't giving correct readings. (kept coming up with no temp when she had one even after making sure she was doing it right) Which for her at the time was too dangerous so she ended up getting a Braun one as well.
