DH & I each have a top 5 from our 'short'list (of 19 names ohmy.gif) and there is only one match!

I was hoping I could get some opinions (which may or many not encourage me to ditch some from my top 5 & replace them!)...

My top 5 (in alphabetical order):
Cillian
Dashiell
Dexter
Hugo
Raphael

We haven't even started working on middle names yet - I think we'll need a first name to match it with...
So please, rank these names, or at least give me some opinions original.gif

If 'you' like, I can add the other names on our list, but thought the 'top 5' might be a better place to start!

Thanks original.gif

Which one matched on your husbands list?

I like Cillian most, then Hugo.

The match was Cillian original.gif

the main concern with that is the 'n' at the end. I'm Erin, DH is Brendan, DD is Evelyn, is Cillian just getting too matchy?

It doesn't bother me personally.

Don't worry that only one match out of a shortlist of 19.

DH and I had a list of 100 names and were to highlight our favourite 20 names.... we had NOT ONE MATCH ohmy.gif . Of course we ended up having 2 boys (we can't agree on boys names).

Hugo and Raphael are the only two on your list I like. The other's I don't rate.

Raphael or Dexter I love.  I am not a fan on the other 3 sorry. (I always wanted a Raph but DH didn't like it I was actually surprised he liked the name we went with for DS as for him it is very very out there)

With DD4 I really thought it was going to be a boy and had done a massive list of names I liked.  Again Raphael was on I had Dexter, Declain, Zane, Atticus, Blake, Ryder, Hunter, Jasper (which due to DH's work was vitto'd right away) alas I didn't get to use any.

I did used to like Hugo but The Slap has ruined it for me now I think

Sili-en - although I've seen/heard it Kilien as well.

lsolaBella - 100 names? Wow! I don't think there's even that many we like!

We're hopeless with boys names!

hheart.gif Dashiell wub.gif

Raphael (meh)

Others I can't really comment on as they are nms

Choosing a name is hard however so long as you and dh are happy with it then that is all you need to be concerned about.

I think Hugo goes best with your daughter's name.

Our boy name for this baby is on your list original.gif

I don't think all your names ending in n is an issue at all.

Top two:
Cillian - great name, if you both like it I'd definitely use it!
Dashiell - Dash is a cute nickname too.

Not so much:
Raphael
Hugo
Dexter - unable to get over the TV show association.

I do love the nn Dash.
As for Dexter & the TV show, we're fans & the association kind of adds to the appeal for us (but we're weird like that) ph34r.gif

No I had printed out a list of the top 100 names to use as a starting point where we could highlight our favourite 20 names to then see what matched to get a short list... unfortunately none of our names matched.

Raphael - I think this is first place. Well, I love it, but I don't love its nickname options. My DH won't let me have it.

Dashiell - Love, and it has a great built in nickname. Might run into slight pronunciation issues.

Cillian - Like it a lot.

Dexter - I'm conflicted about "Dex."

Hugo  - I don't like Hugo, never have, not sure why, I don't hate Hugh.

All in all I quite like this style of names, it was hard to pick a Top 3.

Hugo - Love
Dashiell - Great.  The NN Dash is cool too.
Raphael - ok
Cillian - No. Sorry!  Makes me think of a medicine name.
Dexter - Never really liked this one.

Cillian- could grow on me, but I'm unsure of this one.
Dashiell- nope, sounds a bit try-hard to me.
Dexter- nope, too axe-murdery.....
Hugo- a close 2nd choice to Raphael, excellent name.
Raphael- Number 1 for sure. I adore this name  wub.gif

Sili-en - although I've seen/heard it Kilien as well.

I have only heard it pronounced as 'Kil ee - an" with a k sound, and I have known a few of them.  It's Irish (as I guess you may be with Erin, possibly), and the hard C sound is used like in Ciaran, Ciara etc.
I think Sillian sounds very odd.

If you pronounce it with a K, then I like it equally with Dashiel and Raphael.  Dexter would be at the bottom.  I like Hugo, but there seem to be a fair few of them around.
