Hi everyone,

I posted this in the TTC forum, but you may have some more insight in here.

My DH and I have just reached the 12 month mark in our TTC journey sad.gif
I have made myself a doctors appointment but I am not sure what I should expect from it. What questions should I be asking and what should I should expect to be asked. Are there any tests that I should be requesting??? I really have no idea and never thought I would ever be in this situation so am feeling quite overwhelmed.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I just went for the same reason. My GP ordered me off for a CD21 blood test for progesterone, LH, FSH and thyroid, just to make sure that I was ovulating and there's nothing really obvious going on. They came back ok so now she will write me a referral for a FS. I'm sending DH off to have his little guys checked out while we wait to get in to the FS as I imagine it will be quite a wait to see them.

I'm not sure if there are any other questions in order yet, I'm sure someone will have some more info for you. Good luck!

Hi Hopefully soon,
DH and I hit the 12 month mark in February so I know how you feel sad.gif . When we went to our GP she gave us the forms for me to have a day 21 blood test and for DH to do give a sample too.. It's taken a little wait to get our first appointment with the FS and we are finally going tomorrow. So if I were you, I would ask for a couple of tests to be organised by your GP like we have and get the results sent to your FS because while you're waiting for the appointment it atleast feels like you are doing something other than waiting and you'll have some basic results to talk about at your first appointment original.gif . Good luck x.

My GP did a day 21 blood test and said everything was fine but I went to a FS anyway and got a day 2 blood test which showed I had high FSH which is a major problem. FSH is only relevant if tested on day 2 or 3 so maybe you should request this too. There is also AMH which is egg count but I kind of wish I didn't know that number (mine is really low). Also get a sperm analysis done cos it's standard so do it while you're waiting on FS referral.
Whatever you do, don't let a GP tell you you're being paranoid or stressing too much is what is stopping you getting pregnant. The rule is 12 months you can get a referral so I badgered my GP til I got one and turns out I have major problems and will probably have to do IVF. I look perfectly healthy, am only 32 and have an easily conceived 2 year old and a very fertile mother so it all came as a big shock to me also.
