I would play the piano - I love the sound of the piano - so relaxing when you want it to be and so upbeat and fun when you want it to be. Unfortunatley I can't even read music.

Penny whistle! They sound so sweet and are small enough to take anywhere! Unfortunately, school days playing recorder have turned most people off any whistles.

I'd love to play the bagpipes. It's the only instrument I can think of that might drown out the noise of the kids

Violin as I love the sound when it's played properly. I tried to learn for a few months when I was young but gave it up to learn piano and flute instead.

I grew up listening to Peter and the Wolf, and always wished I could play the grandfather part on the bassoon.

The bass guitar - in all of my favourite songs the bass line is just amazing and so distinctive. It's a very soulful instrument for me.

I'd learn to play guitar as my son loves to dance and sing he's only three i'd like to be able to help foster his interest more in music and dance.

Voice. I grew up playing piano and swore my children would play something more portable. A voice is the ultimate portable instrument!

Piano, it might seem a bit boring, but I love to tinkle the ivories, and would love if it sounded halfway decent.

The harmonica - *swoon* I can't help but be transported to a world of 'coolness' when I hear this sound! I hope my daughter isn't relying on my genes for her musical talent, though I do try!!

I would love to learn to sing. I've always wanted to be famous! Singing is the sure fire way to see my dream come true.

i loved to play the steelpans (steel drums) so i would think im in the carribean on holiday everyday

The guitar as it is light enough to carry and you can play just about any music. It would be great to have family nights in together strumming songs on the guitar and singing along.

I used to be able to play the flute (when at school), I'd love to re-learn to show my daughter how beautiful it can be

Complicated clapping,as flamenco dancers and musicians do, called "palmas", it's amazing and would be the ultimate party trick, and very cool to teach kids.
