Should I seek a second opinion?

Hi guys, this is my first ever forum post, I'm very much a newbie!
My hubby & I decided 2 years back to stop the pill, knowing my periods had a long history of being irregular. We weren't desperate to conceive back then. We went to see a specialist in feb11 who put me on metfirmin as i hadn't had a period since going off the pill. Blood tests and US confirmed PCOS. Since being on metformin, my blood sugar levels have reduced and i am having irregukar periods with approx 55day average cycle. Weight wise, I need lose 30kg, which. Lost 10 originally, but some has crept back on. The specialist says see won't put me on cloud until I reach 100kg mark. Her reasoning is the risk of miscarriage is much higher and we dn't want a 'bad outcome'
So I have read all the basics, I know I should do Temp charting etC, but have trouble maintaining ongoing dedication to these.
So although I need to be more committed to weight loss.... Do you think the specialist should be doing more for me? Eg more tests, putting me on clomid earlier? Should I be looking for a second opinion?
I understand that I Am the one not doing everything I can( Lack of commitment and motivation) therefore won't be insulted if told so

I had the same problem when I starting seeing my first fertility specialist in 2008. I had to get to 105 or below for clomid and 100 or below if we wanted to start IVF. I tried the metformin but had a bad reaction so it was no help. I managed to get to 105 to do the clomid and had 5 cycles before success, but I miscarried after 9 weeks and the wheels just fell off for me. My weight ballooned again and I couldn't handle the thought of TTC. That was in 2009. I am now hovering around the 100kg mark. My current fertility specialist hasn't made mention of it and I am healthier now than ever before. Things changed for me when I started seeing a naturopath. She was fantastic and I felt able to make lots of dietary changes that I had previously refused to make. I did a stomach cleanse and liver cleanse and wasn't feeling as sluggish anymore. Once I started to see the benefits from what she was doing, I felt like making changes myself. I still overeat (I can't deny it - I love food!) and although I do a bit I should be exercising more, but I am happy with where I'm at and it's not holding me back. I doubt you'll be able to avoid the weight loss issue with the specialists - the healthier your body, the better your chances when TTC. If only the motivation were easier to come by!

I was at 100kg and my FS wanted me to lose 10 to 15kg, which I managed to do with Metformin, healthy eating and a bit of exercise. Any FS will tell you the same thing, weight loss will help you GET pregnant and STAY pregnant, plus OMG you need energy to look after a toddler!
If you have PCOS you'll benefit greatly from a low GI diet/eating plan. That helped me a lot.
