Anyone else an American Idol fan?  I love it...lol...

So top 13 last night?  Anyone surprised?  I guess my only 2 surprises for me was that Jen Hirsh didn't make it and that He Jun did.  Otherwise thought that America chose the top 10 well and thought the judges picked their 3 well.

Totes in love with Joshua - amazing voice and also in love Erica.

Yep - can't believe Jen didn't get in - is the Joshua the big guy in the judges three?
I love him and hop he wins... my favourites go to the end last year and have the new album from Lauren which I enjoy...
see what happens

Yeah, I like heejun, he does have a great voice, but i don't think he should be in the top 13, i think he needs more performance skills and i've only seen him do  ballad type songs. I also thought skylar should have been out of there, she looks like she was being electrocuted as she was performing and her voice wasn't the best country one. I don't get deandre at all, it's not enjoyable to watch him, he's far too soft and out of tune when you can hear him.

brielle- glad to see her go, she's not a great singer. I though creighton fraker, was a shame that he didn't make it.

Liking joshua ledet, colton dixon, phil phillips, and elise testone at the moment,

I think they have some great talent this year (though still a travesty that Adam Lambert didn't win in season 8!)

I think Jen Hirsh has a great voice, but she blew it in the live shows (didn't produce the same "Wow!" moments that she did during Hollywood week).

It will be interesting to see the guys take on the music of Stevie Wonder this week -- Stevie is hard to pull off well!

My money is on Jessica Sanchez or Phil Phillips for the win. Joshua Ledet, in my opinion, has the most raw talent, but I don't think he will resonate with the teeny bopper vote.

I love Colton. I think it's his to lose. How Deandre got in over Reed is beyond me. Reed is unique but marketable. Curls, not so much.  wink.gif But given it's aimed at the tweens, he will probably go far. Yawn.

I loled when Brielle got knocked out. Bet her mother didn't take that well.  ph34r.gif

yeah I agree it definitely was a travesty that adam lambert didn't win. Blew me away with his renditions of mad world and ring of fire.

How could i forget Jessica Sanchez? she is absolutely amazing that voice , the stage presence, the way she moves around the stage.

oh yay here you all are original.gif

agree with diandre critique too - I find him a bit bizarre to be honest. I also snorted when brielle didn't make it - was actually surprised she was given a second chance.

I love erica's voice - great talent there.  also phil, colton and jessica.

pmsl - agree that skylar looked like she was bein electrcuted!

adam losing was ridiculous but he's laughing now - who won again??

Am loving American Idol this year (......and Steven Tyler!!).  A few surprises in the top 13 - Reed should have made it before Heejun IMO.  I think Jessica Sanchez will win it (amazing voice and stage presence for a 16 year old).  I quite like Deandre (he's a bit Terrence Trent Darby).

Bring on Thursday night!!

I think they mostly got it right but yes Reed should definitely be there!!!  Instead of Deandre... he is just weird!!  I can't actually decide if he's talented or not!!!  God and I totally agree with you guys re: Skylar!  egads!  She's a shocker!  Oh and how did Shannon make it?  I'm sorry but I see better singers at my local karaoke bar!  So I really love Phillip (but that might just be for his name.. he he), Joshua, Elise and Jessica.  Could be very very interesting though... they are all very different!  BRING IT ON!!!

Reed.. ew! He's so smug and self-loving, like a junior Tom Cruise.

Deandre hurts my ears.

hahaha well we all know how Shannon made it, and it wasn't for her stellar voice. Steven Tyler is just scared that her father is going to knock him one for that comment.

Her last performacne reminded me of a beauty pageant, was truly awful. I mean she can sing in key, she has a "good" voice not great but she doesn't have that performance and uniqueness that some of the other contestants have.

i agree her performances are lacking and don't think she will last long.  She was an audience vote that wasn't she?

Look us all fighting over a 63 year old man...pmsl...

As usual  it is as obvious as a pooey nappy who they chose for the final thirteen.

Chosen as a perfect multicultural cross  section of america so as not to offend end therefore eliminate any one ethnic group as far as voting goes.

Then there is a perfect spectrum of ages  so that all the school kids vote- Deandre, Shannon and Jessica.

Cant exclude the Indy vote- Phil Phillips and Colton

Gotta please the older generation of Grandmas and Mums-  The big guy

Must please the "larger size" some of America- can't remember her name but she is there.

Next is your Dork factor- the nutter who plays the drums and has that mesmerising dot on the end of his nose making it totally impossible to look at anything else.

And don't forget your Country and Western Vote ( huge in the US)- Skylar

Your funky R&B- Joshua

And then there is just the older  25 age group contestants that will be hard pushed to get themselves a cult following and will only get votes of they are any good whereas most of the others will get votes even if they sing off key underwater with a mouth full of marbles>

All done to ensure that at least for the first week or so there is not a single demographic either by ethnicity, age or musical style that is unaccounted for!

Do you mean Reed? He didn't get in! And I am disgusted that he didn't, but he is so talented and I think  he'll go on and have a career. Probably isn't really for the 'Idol' set.

Heejun shouldn't be there, not much of a voice. I don't think he has much respect from the others in the Top 13 either as he jokes around too much for their liking, plus I was watching their reactions and that's what I got out of it anyways.
I was crying out for them to say 'Creighton' instead of Heejun.  Terrible he isn't there. And Jen!!!

Shannon -truly 'beauty pageant'  nothingness I agree. No talent.
Skylar/Schuyler - AWFUL. CANNOT SING. But is there for the counry vote.
Deandre - change your last name!...Brackensick?? ugh. Anyhoo he has too soft a voice and is only different for his falsetto or whatchamacallit.
The big guy (is it Jermaine?) is ok, but really?
I'm not into Erica, sorry.
Way to go Colton, and Phil. Jessica has a fantastic voice and commands the stage. She may well win! (or Colton, or Phil!)

I think I forgot a couple but I haven't forgotten Johnny Keyser!!!  Thought he'd go all the way!!

#19 naards

Posted 07 March 2012 - 04:00 PM

I absolutely agree with you about Johnny!  I seriously don't know why he got booted so soon... I thought we had the winner in him too!

Awwwww DG do we sense a little cynicism??   tongue.gif  wink.gif

#21 Daisy Goat

Posted 07 March 2012 - 04:24 PM

Oh yeah Dot  bloke didn't get in.. See how distracting it was? I am really glad he didn't get in. He made my finger twitch on the remote control

Naards? Me  cynical? No Way!

Heck if they were truly going for the best artists then there would be an imbalance of the sexes even because there were better singers in the blokes than the women. But then again  there were better singers in the blokes than the blokes that got in.

What irks me is that I am going to have to listen to Americas Country sparkly hyped up Casey Chambers for absolute weeks. She is either going to explode or bust an ankle.

I was happy to see Arielle gone. i couldn't fathom why ST even gave her an extra chance- she shouldn't have even got that far.

I would have loved to see Hayley get in ( not the one who did Annie lennox copying the other one)

Hee Jun is going to look pretty bizarre this week doing Mary J Blige (who I find utterly horrid on her own)

I think it is a pity Jennifer missed out - but they had to chose the little blonde or her and they made it pretty clear that the contestants were not allows to be anything like Adele in quality or style

I had the total "Miss America Pageant" flashback when she sang last week -- complete with the pageant dress & hair. "And here comes Miss Florida, whose community platform is 'Adopt a Grandparent,' singing some random theme song of Bible camps everywhere...Go Light Your World.'"

I'm sure she's a nice girl, but she is definitely enjoying the Santorum effect right now.

It'lll be interesting tonight. I'm just happy I won't have to listen to Adele or that Georgia on my mind song again! I like Adele, like Georgia on my mind, but sometimes they just totally murder the songs.

#24 MrsNorthman

Posted 08 March 2012 - 06:41 PM

agree, I think Georgia should be on the "banned" list of audition songs now to be honest...so over it...

apparently someone kills it tonight with a whitney song...

Jessica sang the Whitney song that got the standing ovation. Jessica does have a good voice but that song gets sung ALL THE TIME!!!

I quite like DeAndre he is great! like the way he sings good voice!
