Random letters throw me really badly sometimes. I was talking to a Samiul the other day and saying what an idiot I was for stumbling over his name the first time I read it. He said it's something that happens all the time and people always start to say Samuel and stop halfway through. He doesn't mind, he's used to it.
And the other one that gets me badly is Danyiel. Even though I now know this is a boy, I still hesitate over whether I should be saying Daniel or Danielle.
Something further removed from the original like Ellyvia is actually easier to work out.

Poor kid He will forever be spelling his name out forever

So is it pronounced Why-ee-at? Because that is how someone who can read would be inclined to say it.
ETA: It could have been Whereiat LOL.

My name is Jacquelyn NOT with an INE, my mum is Loraine with ONE R and my sister is Ainslie with an IE NOT EY. But I think these are still acceptable spellings as they still make sense.
The worst I have seen is Jaxxin There is nothing wrong with Jackson and there is no excuse for bastardising the english language.
