Taking the sun protection factor our of the equation, where do you stand on naked toddlers or babies at the beach? Is is ok? Or do you think young children should cover up? Just wondering where EB stands on this.

I think it's fine, sun issues aside, obviously.

I don't know about the rest of EB, but I have never let my kids be nude in public. Too many weirdos with camera's in their phones. Out of the house you have something covering your bottom, feet and a top of some description.

I can't honestly say it bothers me in the slightest - in one sense it's quite lovely seeing liitle people running around nekkid adn innocent without the self esteem and body issues that will inevitably come with age.

I do greatly dislike it from the sun protection factor, small kids burn soooooooo easily!

Better than nude old men.

Depends on your level of comfort. For me it's a no.

I would not like to give strangers an opportunity to take photos of my naked children.

I would also never post photos of my naked children on the web either.

Due to sun safety it's a none issue anyway.

shrug.gif  No big deal.

Though in the practical sense clothing works better anyway, so this threads topic seems moot?

I think it's perfectly fine. There has always been perverts about, and I'm not about to spend my life being paranoid one of them might take a photo of my innocent child.

Well can't speak for EB but I don't blink twice a toddlers doing nude sand castle building or part nude bathing. It's fine, it's never for long and as long as they're being very well supervised its fine. Sun issue aside of course!

And I know people will come in and talk about Paedophiles being everywhere and "people" will be taking photos and posting them on the internet etc and by letting them run nude on the beach is the same as selling them to a child porn site but I disagree.

I don't stand on toddlers or babies anywhere, whether they are wearing clothes or not.

It doesn't bother me but I don't let my kids do it (mainly because of the sun protection issue).

I did find it a bit odd when there were a brother and sister of about 7 and 8 running around nude at the beach the other day. It wasn't crowded but still I would not have been comfortable as their parent.

A quick change in/out of bathers is fine, but I wouldn't let my kids actually run around naked in public. Firstly because of the SPF, secondly because of the weirdos.

It doesn't bother me at all.  My children also play nude in the garden.

If it is your children - do what you feel comfortable with.
If it is other children - mind your own business and let their parents make the decision.

That's taking the sun issue out of it. It can still be very hot late in the afternoon, but the risk of burning would be much lower.

But do you stand on naked old men?

Well this was us last night, family went for a walk down the beach and mr almost 2 got drenched so we took his clothes off, we even walked home with him nude. I'm not going to let the "what ifs" run my life. Mr 6 however got to walk home in his saturated school uniform!

I can't keep swimmers On DD it's a constant battle. Given we live a minutes drive from the beach it's a hassle. It's harder for her to get out of a one piece though.

The kids hate rashies, they make them so cold!

Nudies are Lovely on the beach. I do notice brazen Weirdos around though. I try not to let them run my life though.

Personally, I don't like it.  Knickers at least in public.  I'm not normally a prude, but this is something that just makes me squirmy.

Do what you want in your own yard, but out in public, put some undies on!

I was just curious about what people think. I often let DS 15 months run around naked and have noticed that baby boomers always smile at us, but parents with toddlers of similar ages sometimes give me looks.

I seem to be going against the grain here but it's a big no from me. It's totally inappropriate IMO.

#22 Gemmar

Posted 23 February 2012 - 11:57 AM

It's Perfectly fine harmless & innocent let them enjoy the only time they can get away with it and be carefree and happy. I personally don't the only reason being that I am so paranoid she might do a poo!

I love it but my DD wouldn't be up for it.  She loves a nudie run at home but would hate getting all sandy if she was nude at the beach (such a fuss-pot)

I don't live my life in fear, so Team Nude for me.

#24 taddie

Perfectly fine and lovely to see imo. Time enough for getting old and being taught to be ashamed of your body or that other people will take advantage of you for it.

I'm not a fan.

We were at that water playground at darling harbour the other week and it was so busy. There was this one boy about 7 years old totally starkers and it bothered me a bit.

Not sure why, I guess I just think there are so many perverts out there. And besides, how hard is it to let your kids run around in their undies at the very least?
