O.k So our Overstaying housemate is finally moving out tonight.   biggrin.gif  Anyway he has asked to have access to the pantry to take some food with him.

I am thinking the following:

1. No you work, there is only you I have 3 to think about and limited income
2. You have not paid me rent in 3 weeks, and still be eating our food.

Bottom line I am think no bloody way.

I think that he has a cheek to even ask.  Point him in the direction of the nearest woolies.

What a cheek  rant.gif

You tell him a big fat NO

I just can't believe he would even ask ! I'm shocked, and lost for words  blink.gif

Give him $10 and tell him to stock up on noodles.

I wouldn't be giving him access unless I was there with him, keeping an eye on what he was taking.

Sure, when he back pays the 3 weeks owing, he can then take any food he paid for in the pantry.

Posted 23 February 2012 - 10:39 AM

Tell him he can ONLY when he pays the three weeks rent/lodgings.  This way it will highlight to him he has already taken advantage of you and is cheeky in asking this favour.

I'd be going through the cupboard and giving him all the things that are in there that I don't like or are out of date

PBQ, this shouldn't even be a question in your mind, babes - NO WAY, DUDE!

A simple "No you will not be stealing the food from my children's mouths... " should suffice.

Good grief, the utter gall of the man.

Write down Woolworths' address if he wants a pantry.

What an a*se! He is freeloading and taking advantage of a grieving widow.  sad.gif Very lowest of the low. Are there any of your DH's friends who can come around to help you give him his marching orders?

He's got a lot of balls to even ask that!!!!

His name isn't Carl, is it?   unsure.gif

I think you need to tell him you are shocked he would even request that - he has been a selfish inconsiderate pig that has been a leech and has taken advantage of your kind nature. If he had any self respect and decency, he'd be repaying you any money he owed.

I think you need to type up an invoice for him and bill him for the unpaid board.

Wont be needed, as after what we found out on the day of DH's funeral, if he is not out by tonight he will be physically removed, either by police or by my BIL or both, he is lucky BIL did rip his head off on Monday.

After I'd finished telling him what a bizarre and rude request it was, I'd follow up with asking when he's going to be coming by to give me the money he owes me.

#18 bellarox

Posted 23 February 2012 - 10:56 AM

I don't think anyone here is going to say he should take stuff from the pantry. He should pay you his three weeks rent he owes and even then, shouldn't even need to ask to take anything. He has had enough help from you and your late husband and overstayed his welcome.

I hope you stick to your guns and say no.

I asked him and I was told DH borrowed money of him while out of work and he was taking that back.  Huh hey dude- when a person dies, there sole debts get written off. was my reply.

What a plonker!

No no and a thousand times no. He is no friend to have taken advantage of you in the way he has and now it is an outright pi55 take.

Tell him to sling his hook and buy his own bloody food.

Oh my god! What nerve of this guy!

I'd be tempted to call the police with whatever info you have anyway.

I think I would have laughed in his face!

The answer from me would have been a big fat NO!

#24 MummaDiva

Does he have evidence of said loan?
If not, he is going to have to write it off, and take that as a hard lesson learnt that you never lend money to someone without proper documentation in place.
