Our third child was not exactly um.... planned and we had just purchased a smaller car.
My two girls were both in maxiriders but my eldest will be almost six when thebaby makes an appearance. I went to the baby shop and made them physically put these three seats in the back of my car (well they used one of my Maxis) so I know they definitely fit.... phew!

I've managed to fit three seats across the back of my Kia Cerato

Subaru Liberty 2003 (MY04) wagon

Just had this combination checked by a restraint fitter today and it works.

SNS Meridian AHR FF drivers side, SNS Hiliner SG middle, SNS Compaq Deluxe RF passenger side.

To get it to work I had to pad out the bucket shape seats with towels to make it more of a bench. There is still clearance between the side seats and the door and the booster is able to be done up reasonably easily. Also needs a stiff foam wedge on the seat back to stabilize the Compaq seat at the right angle but I found this is required regardless of the seat padding otherwise there is too much side to side movement especially once you tighten the top tether (hope that makes sense) - this was suggested by the restraint fitter.

1998 Subaru Forester (not sure if these are already there).
RF compaq deluxe, harnessed maxi rider, RF compaq deluxe.
Rf compaq deluxe, harnessed maxi rider, infa vario booster.

(note: for a 3 across in this car with a maxi rider, it HAS to go in the middle. it doesn't leave enough room for 2 more seats if it's on the side, because of the car's rear seat cushion contours)

Maxi Cosi Air

We've had a few combinations and when fitted properly (some need towels to sit in place correctly) the following has fit in our car.

Ford Falcon AU 2002
1 x Infa Trek 8
1 x Mother's Choice Royal (FF)
1 x Safe & Sound capsule (the larger old style ones)

1 x Infa Trek 8
1 x Mother's Choice Royal (FF)
1 x Babylove Ezy Switch (RF)

1 x Infa Trek 8
1 x Babylove Ezy Switch (RF)
1 x Hipod Senator

I don't recommend the Trek 8 though, it's wide wings made it hard for our capsule to sit straight (which is why the towels were needed). The Hipod sits fantastically in our car, the tightest seat we've had.

Have read this many time and never even thought to add mine! The combinations I have had, all in a 2003 VY Commodore Station Wagon are:

FF Meridian x 2 and SNS Polo Capsule

FF Meridian x 2 and SNS Compaq Deluxe

FF Meridian, RF Meridian, Babylove EzyCombo

FF Meridian, RF Meridian, Infa Vario Booster

Getting new car this week so will add another one then!

My first post is a contribution to this thread. It was very stressful trying to work out if we needed to buy different cars and/or different seats so perhaps this might help someone else going through the same thing. We are not having more children simply because the stress of deciding how to fit them all into car seats until they are 7 would do my head in!

Subaru Outback 2003
  • FF Safe N Sound Compaq
  • FF Safe N Sound Compaq
  • RF Safe N Sound Compaq
  • FF Safe N Sound Compaq
  • Infa Secure Travale (I think it's a Kmart version of the Vario Kid)
  • Infa Secure Travale

With the configuration above, the passenger side booster buckle is under the middle booster seat which means the middle child needs to wait until we buckle the passenger side booster before sitting down. We don't use this car often with the 3 seat arrangement - only when there is no alternative.

Subaru Liberty 2010 MY11
  • RF and later changed to FF Safe N Sound Meridian AHR
  • Safe N Sound Hi Liner
  • Safe N Sound Hi Liner

With the configuration above, the children in the Hi Liner boosters cannot get their hands between the seats to do up the buckles themselves. It's a bit of a squeeze to do the booster buckles up but I do it 10+ times a week and it doesn't bother me. This arrangement has passed a check by a certified child restraint installer from the Queensland Ambulance.
