I think we have decided that our boys name will be Hunter Orion or Will Patrick. Was going to be William but I just like Will so much more and he would never get called William.

We are still kind of stuck for a girls name. ATM Im loving Maxine Holly, because I want the nn Max for a little girl. What else can you get the nn Max from for a girl? Because Im not overly keen on  Maxine.

Other option is Matilda Zoe, which is what DD6 would have been called but Saskia Yasmin won out. I realise more people will probably like this option, but its becoming quite popular IMO.

Any more suggestions? #1 Rule: No initial is to be repeated - so no B,N,A,G,X,J,C,R,E,L,S,Y

I think we have decided that our boys name will be Hunter Orion or Will Patrick.

No suggestions, just a comment. Hunter Orion sounds like a tautology. The constellation Orion is known as The Hunter in the Northern Hemisphere and The Saucepan in Australia. So I'd choose Hunter or Orion, just not both together.

Also, Will Patrick do what? Kids have a lot of fun with other kid's names. If the child is tough with a confident personality they do fine, but if not? ...

I agree about Hunter Orion - I hear "Hunter Hunter" in my head with that one.

Maxine is NMS, so I'd be going for Matilda of those options.

Other suggestions for a girl...

Pascha
Petra

I agree with Gertrude about the boy's names, is Patrick in contention for a first name?

I rather like Maxine Holly, it's spunky.

I like Hunter, but dislike Orion. I love William Patrick, but Will Patrick is OK.

I don't really like Maxine, it's very dated IMO. I'm not sure what other girl's names could be shortened to Max, though!

Good luck with your decision original.gif

I really like Maxine Holly.

Boy option for me would be Orion Hunter rather than the other way.  Much easier to say.

If you're going to shorten William to Will using the same logic why not just shorten Maxine to Max if that's what you'll always call her?

I like Hunter Orion. What about Maxime (French version) instead of Maxine.

Will by a hundred thousand miles. Hunter is awful. William is much nicer than Will as a full name though.

Wow, it must be hard coming up with another name!

I wouldn't just go with Will. HE might decide later he likes William, so give him the choice. William sounds more grown-up!

I'm not a fan of Max for a nn for a girl either. Maxine is okay, but Matilda is better.

What about Molly Zara?

I don't like either of the boys names but Patrick William would be good.

For a girl I think Matilda Zoe is gorgeous. Holly Matilda, Matilda Holly or Zoe Matilda would be lovely too.

I agree with PPs.  Hunter or Orion are fine individually but not together.  Will Patrick would be better as William Patrick, but just always known as Will.

As another option for Max, I know a Maxelle (but I think I prefer Maxine).

At first glance Orion reminds me of a Toyota Aurion. I've never cottoned onto names like Hunter, it's like calling your child soldier......not something I would do.

I have a Max and it is such a masculine name, not a fan at all for a little girl. Surely she would just get teased that she had a boys name.

I don't mind Will at all, we know about 3 Will's, I prefer William.

I love all your other kids names.....

This is what I thought as soon as I saw the title of this thread.

I was a bit taken aback to learn that Maxime is used for girls.  Favoured boys' name for me.

I think you should stick with Maxine Holly (NN Max). That is a really good name.

However I did 'dig up' some other girl Max names, namely:

Maximina
Maxina
Maxie
Maxima
