I have just lodged my 09/10 tax return via Etax. Right at the end, there was a note saying I havent lodged my 2009 tax return. I rang ATO and Centrelink/FAO a year ago saying I didnt have to as i have not earned an income due to mat leave then unemployment. I thought that would be sufficient because going by that, they were able to reconcile FTB, etc with DHs tax return.
How can they now have a non lodgement on the screen?

I have printed the non lodgement form and have sent it off today but how annoying.

I have also called the ATO on other matters in the past week and they have NFI. Often putting me on hold for ages to check with a supervisor and the info they give is still useless.
I really enjoy smacking my head against the ATO brick wall and for such minor matters. wacko.gif

Last year I received a letter from the ATO via our Accountants that they didn't receive tax returns for me from 1999, 2000 & 2001. I thought it was all sorted too, advised that I didn't have to lodge tax returns and received FTB reconcilations. So, our Accountants did non lodgments again for those years. Hopefully I wont get asked again.

I didn't have to lodge one this year and our Accountants wanted to lodge a Nil return rather than advise non lodgement. Maybe it happens a lot.

You mean them not doing their jobs properly? wink.gif

I keep everything in writing with dates when I send things off. Makes me not trust just ringing up.
