Umm, siblings. lol

twins are babies rooming together before born. LOL

Blimey, how much of a break would you have gotten to have two babies born in the same year!

It happens under all kinds of circumstances.

I had two babies in 2000. One in Feb and one in Dec.

I copied this from http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-iri1.htm

IRISH TWINS
[Q] From Swami Murugananda: ďI recently heard the expression, Irish twins. What does it mean and would you cast some light as to its origin?Ē
[A] What it means is easy enough to explain. It refers to siblings born in the same calendar year, or otherwise less than twelve months apart. Itís clearly a deeply derogatory comment about the stereotypical fecundity (and lack of contraception) of Irish Catholic families. Itís probably twentieth-century, but I can find little evidence that would help to tie it down (it may be relevant that it isnít listed in the 1984 edition of Eric Partridgeís Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English). So far as I can tell from the places Iíve found it, all online, itís primarily an American expression; itís also known in Britain, but it doesnít often find its way into print, no doubt because it is considered offensive.

I worked with a lady who at her 6 week check up after having a baby found out she was pregnant again.  They were born in the same year.
