Anyone had experiences with FMC? I’m going public and have been assigned here - no choice in SA. Very different from my previous experience in Canberra and can’t even find out anything about them online!

Most of my friends have had their babies there, my sister included. I'm not sure on where you could find info though sorry.

Maybe post in the SA sub forum.
Sorry I can't give any advice. I had all mine public through WCH.

My sister had her baby at FMC and had a very average experience. Long wait times for assistance from nurses and very poor hand over between shifts where she had to be her own advocate and advise what was currently happening with her and baby etc but they get the job done I guess like all public hospitals.

I spent time on the maternity ward by accident (agency midwife gave some wrong information), was booked into Flinders Private, but had a 2nd trimester miscarriage with quite a few complications.
Staff on the ward avoided me like the plague, didn't monitor me anywhere near to the level I required, put me in a room with someone still pregnant who was attached to a CTG monitor (because when your baby has died you really want to hear the sound of a babies heart beat over and over again). Ended up discharging myself, I could do a better job monitoring myself with my own equipment at home.
