Forget what your personal feelings are about the film...we can all agree that The Princess Bride is one of those classic films. A part of childhood for many of us. One that many of us have watched ad nauseum and introduced to our children.

So why, inconceivably(see what I did there), would they ever think of remaking irt??!! You can't. You just can't!!

What other films should never be remade? Or should never have been remade/rebooted ?

Dirty dancing would have to be up there.

Also 'shall we dance' - the english remake totally loses the entire concept that in Japan, to dance with someone you are not related to was very frowned upon.

Loved Cary elwes’ response.
“There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one.“

The remake of footloose should not have been done.

I’m pretty sure there are some great new stories- let’s make them into movies.

Even worse, there's a modern day update one and then a traditional one within a 3 month span. Great planning everyone!

I am also a big fat fan of the BBC Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle Pride and Prejudice and very much not of any other version.

Remakes which just involve changing the cast to a bunch of women.

Surely they could just come up with some idea for movies about women, or with female leads.

Also, how can they possibly remake Princess Bride? There is no cast, anywhere, that can take those roles away from the original actors.  If this happens I'm going to war with Guilder immediately.

Hell no to the princess bride.

And generally, I’m against remakes and prequels. I miss original movies, it’s all Star Wars and the avengers. It’s boring and I’m soooo sick of them.

Hell boy shouldn’t have been re done.

Spider-Man is just a mess. A total mess. I don’t know where one remake ends and another begins anymore.

I’d like to see The Crow remake, I think that could be good, if done right, since they were kind of one-off things anyway. But not even sure if they made it in the end.

And live action Aladdin was terrible, could have been saved if they had picked a genie that could actually sing though. But they didn’t, they whole thing sucked and was unnecessary.

Spanish - Gran Hotel on Netflix is superb.  American Grand Hotel set Miami Beach? I’d fall sleep if I wasn’t trying to stick pins on my eyes.

I love Beetlejuice. I watched it recently and realised the special effects were really lame, not at all like I remembered, but still a great movie.

I am keen to see what they do with the remake. It is about the only remake I have ever been interested in.

Edit - cancel that. It's a sequel, not a remake.

They are remaking The Witches and I am upset about it!

Pretty much anything non-American that is remade by Hollywood.

Actually I’d say there is very little need to remake anything. If it was loved the first time, a remake won’t do it justice, and if it wasn’t loved, remaking it is unlikely to change that.

I agree. The princess bride was awesome... Why would they ruin it.

There's plenty that shouldn't have been remade but most recently for me, the lion king... Terrible and unnecessary when the original was so good. Great voices, great music, everything about it... And the new one was just a disaster.

This movie was exactly how I imagined everything reading the book!

The Princess Bride is perfect as it. A remake is blasphemy.

I hope they never remake The Lost Boys.

The Point Break redo was ... hideous.

I also agree about rehashing old movies with a female cast. It does nothing for me. I guess it might be okay for people who've never seen the original.

The classic wizard of Oz. No way.

Back To The Future is absolutely perfect and should definitely never be redone!

Not a huge fan of the Princess Bride so don’t really care about that.

They should never have remade Flatliners or Total Recall.

I heard they were going to remake Ghost. Good luck with that!

And agree with the previous poster that there are so many Spider-Man movies now - and not even spaced very far apart - I can’t keep track of which remake is which.

A new Back to the Future would be devastating.
