One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson is drawing condemnation for her comments that women in the Family Court are making up claims about family violence in order to win custody of their children.

Campaigners against family violence says they're alarmed by the accusations and have concerns that Senator Hanson is set to co-chair the joint parliamentary inquiry on family law that was announced yesterday by the Prime Minister.

The Senate has given the go-ahead to a wide-ranging inquiry into Australia's family law system, despite criticism from anti-violence campaigner Rosie Batty that appointing One Nation leader Pauline Hanson as a deputy chair would bias the probe.
The inquiry, which was criticised by anti-domestic violence groups after being announced on Tuesday, will examine the family court system, along with child support, and a proposed merger between the Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court.
Senator Hanson, who has been a vocal proponent of an inquiry, made comments this morning suggesting women make false accusations of domestic violence to stop men having access to children, arguing the issue should be examined by the inquiry.
Ms Batty called out those remarks, saying the One Nation leader's comments were "incredibly damaging", and proof the senator "already has an agenda".

What deal is the LNP getting in return for making her deputy chair is what I want to know.

An array of experts from academics to lawyers and ex judges on RN tonight horrified by the inaccuracy of her claims as well as her appointment.

DV victims will have to answer to her.

Whose bright idea was it to put a misogynist woman in charge of such a thing?

That was a rhetorical question.

Her crusade is all about her son's issues.
It should disqualify her.

mouthpiece of the patriarchy - that’s all she is.

her son was wronged so all women are liars and we have to deny their material reality. where have we heard that before. let’s make this all about men - their feelings, their wants.....it’s appalling. women and children will die.

I believe he lost visitation rights to his son for violating a DVO.

Pauline has been furious about it and is why she believes all women lie.
It was even in a speech to parliament.

I don't know the facts in question but she has an agenda.

Christ, I’m not even surprised. I don’t know much about the enquiry, but, being launched by the liberals, I immediately assume it’s because they think the men are being hard done by and an inquiry will shine a light on all those evil lying women that are taking advantage of the situation. (Sarcasm, of course)

Despite who chairs it, I really hope the evidence is overwhelming, and they are forced to do something about a system that is obviously not working, for anyone.

But the stupid thing is that the Australian Law Reform Commision handed down their recommendations in April, from the enquiry that they were commissioned to do, by AG Brandis.

There were 60 recommendations, none of which have been implemented.

For the party of "fiscal responsibility" (ha-ha) this is a colossal waste of tax payers money.

I’m guessing the government didn’t get the answers they were after the first time, so they are trying again.
