So I'm having a Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy themed birthday party for myself. I mean it's not really themed, I don't think anybody will come in theme, but that's how I themed the invite so I was thinking I might vaguely theme the party that way if I can. It's just in a pub, so I thought maybe I'd just get some silver balloons or something.

But if I can find one, I'd love to wear something vaguely spacey looking. But not too out there, not like 'real' dressup, just something that can kind of cross over between normal and dressup. Like maybe something silver maybe. But ideally still flattering and a nice dress.

I have a paunchy belly so can't wear anything too sheer across the waist. Dress or top or jumpsuit would all be ok.

Anybody got any ideas? If you come across anything subtle but cool the kids could wear that'd be great too. But mainly me, as they'd probably refuse to anyway.

Any ideas?

ETA. Under $150. Have found some stuff out there that looks great but sheesh, like $1k!

It's more dance party than theme party. And my birthday party. So first priority I want to look nice - Hitch Hikers theme is kind of secondary.

Have you looked on modcloth? They have lots of themed dresses in a similar 50s style to review if you like that?
Otherwise, Ebay is my go to for things like this :)

ASOS have a few sparkly jumpsuits.

And now I’m down the silver/sparkly ASOS rabbit hole, this looks like it would cling horrendously but is quite cool https://www.asos.com...rchQuery=silver

Great theme! It isn’t a 42nd birthday by any chance?

(Don’t feel obliged to answer - I’m not usually in the habit of asking people how old they are!)

I've ordered this

Long shot but if it fits well and looks as good as this in real life, it'd be pretty awesome...

Wish I’d thought of it for myself or DH, but sadly too late for both of us!

Hope you have a wonderful time, and I’m glad you found an outfit you like.

Well I don't have a great strike rate with fit of online purchases so I don't know how it'll go. Fingers crossed. I wanted to get this as a standby but the delivery time is too long :(

I went to a hitchhikers guide theme party and my partner and I got those plastic soy sauce fish you get with sushi, taped them to ear plugs and wore them in our ears- babblefish. Easy prop for any costume really!

You could also try ChiChi London online. They’re pretty generous sizing though.
