A rough towel fan here too . I have Aldi towels at present, always wash in 60 degrees, and line dry.

Just saw an internet tip (so not tried it yet myself) about shaking them a few times before line drying

going to try when I next do a load

We have a set of Sheridan towels that are still wonderfully soft (unless I leave them out on a hot day for too long, but after one dry in the bathroom they’re ok again).

Our other set is from Adairs and they’re nice too.

Seayork that does help. DH doesn’t shake, which gets rid of the deep wrinkles that have started to set since it’s finished it’s rinse cycle, and it always so crunchy for the first few uses.

I actually can't stand towels until they get the soft washed out of them.

If I shake them a few times before hanging them on the line, our towels are soft enough.

I don't use huge amounts of detergent (i generally use 2/3 of what is recommended) and for towels, I do the rinse cycle with vinegar.
