Get it catered. Get Paella.
We did a big party (1st birthday) that was mostly adults, maybe 50 people at our home, and we got a mob that does giant Paellas. It worked so well. Firstly, the vegetarian one was gluten free, meat free, nut free, egg free, it suited almost all the allergies/preferences of everyone we knew. And the meat one was also gluten free, egg free, nut free also. So everyone just ate, no separates, no fuss. There was plenty of food, plus a side of bread, there was leftovers. The bowls and cutlery were paper based so no plastic waste. He set up outside, so no kitchen needed other than a tiny bit of prep. At serving tiem it was so quick to give everyone a spoonful of paella, everyone was served quickly. It was soooo delicious. Everyone said it was great.
Plus we had a drinks table, lay it out so everyone can easily serve themselves, that way youre not tied up as the host serving drinks
I did a few desserts, and we bought the cake, and we had a few chips and dip/nibbles platters before hand and everyone was stuffed by the end.
Easy, not too expensive, everyone catered for.
(And keep speeches to a minimum, especially if a mixed crowd, e.g. work colleagues might lose interest in some long anecdote about your DH in high school... and when people lose interest they chat and everyone cant hear)
