DP suggested Hosanna to me last night and I dismissed it rather quickly as I prefer Susannah, Roseanna or Johanna but now I'm wondering if maybe I should reconsider?

It's uncommon and still a longer girls name which I like, but DP's last name starts with a H and Hosanna H sounds a bit funny - plus the potential teasing having 'Ho' in her name =/

Nickname Gloria?

Not really a fan, I prefer Rosanna.

Just a religious word to me.  Part of hymns I sang when I was a child in church.

Susannah is a great name.

The religious thing puts me off to start with.

But then I quickly move to seeing it as Hose Anna.  And that's even worse.

Your gut was spot on indeed!

It’s not a name. And it’s a word that is awful when trying to be a name.

Susannah would be lovely with your son’s fabulous name :)

Makes me think of Kim and Kanye’s new baby Psalm. I’d think you were trying to come up with something along the same lines. I don’t like it. I like Susannah and Rosanna.

I immediately started singing that song, team that with the shortened Ho and it’s a big no from me.

Nicknames would be Ho or Hose. not cute.

Terrible. I know of one and she gets ‘Hosie’ as a nickname. Awful.

Not a fan. It's too religious for me. Also don't like the sound of it; it doesn't flow nicely.

What about Anna on its own? I think it’s a beautiful, underrated name.

Ah no.

I don't think I've ever heard it used as a name really. Never occurred to me that anyone would!

I have a Susanna. It's a great name as no one else seems to have it, yet everyone knows it and has no issue with pronouncing it etc. You do have to spell it out as people are never sure if it has 2 n's or a Z and we don't have the H on the end, but otherwise it's a totally trouble free name.

I obviously haven’t spent enough time at church because I have never heard it before. I don’t like it at all though.

I don’t think Hosanna is a cultural name for the OP, so its a bit different to Psalm which would be a cultural name for Kanye.
