LLB was the one that noted the bins storage had gone yet he gave them a 10? Completely unfair to Lisa and Andy I think, who all the judges raved about , yet no 10 (except for the 10 from the home owners).

Adding to my distrust of the editing, the Instagram pages of the contestants is interesting.  On the boys Instagram page, Shayne and Carly defended the accusations of no play area by saying they had put a hidden sandpit some where and had worked really hard on it, but it wasn’t shown or mentioned!

There were parts of each zone I really liked and parts that I didn't.
I would be really annoyed that the skate ramp was taken away, when it didn't really need to be, but the stairs and front terraced garden were lovely. I even think the cubby thing will look great when the roof plants grow a bit and cascade right over the edges. I did agree with the judges that the brickwork would look better painted a darker colour.
I think L & A deserved to be on top of the scoreboard this week, but there were still some changes I would make. I couldn't handle no shade cover and the cubby was too small for my liking. And after the plant arguements they didn't seem to have that many plants - or was I just not watching very closely?
T & M had a bad week, but they had a crappy zone too. Who wants a picnic table on the driveway? Or a shower for that matter - swimsuit on or not? I would have had the bar and BBQ integrated along the wall into cabinetry so the area wasn't as crowded looking and I would have found a way to keep the surfboards mounted on the ceiling like they were originally as a bit of a feature.

I agree, taking away the surfboards, which are so clearly a passion of the homeowner was strange.  A clever storage or display system for them would have scored some useful points.

Pete and Courtney - judges said, they removed the bin storage and put sh*t, pointless garden there, area near front door looked old and the steps looked new (or something to that effect), fairy garden wasn't secret but hey, I will give you a 10. WTAF? lol

Wasn't it going to be higher than a 10 if he could?

I'm sure it was also LLB who commented on the colour on the brick but hey they gave him a purple door.

After giving the boys 7, which I felt was high, they really had to score P&C well.

Only Wendy and S&C scored how it should have been scored this week.

Oh and in Harper's room, who would put a glass picture frame that low down in a room.  She would just have to accidentally kick it or lean back hard on it and the glass would shatter.

Not sure what the budget is for the fix up but they probably spent about $300 if that.

I liked Shayne and Carly to start with but over the series disliked them more and more, especially Carly.  They don't have a leg to stand on with complaining about Pete and Courtney being strategic after what they did to them.  Glad they are gone.

I feel the same, and I also feel the same about Lisa and Andy(more so Lisa).

Lol @ 'Wilma, I'm home' and the Flintstones music but hated all those boulders, the old wood and rusty screens.  Doesn't match the new fresh front of the house to me which I love.  And that arbour was terrible.

I was the same about Shayne and Carly but I think 3 was too low. I missed the first 45 minutes (will watch later), did they like anything? Even the facade? I liked that, hated the chess set and their balcony looked like a student lounge room with nothing in it.

I want the boys to win.

I LOVE the boulders, screens and old wood. I'm not sure what else you could do with such a steep slope without it looking quite clinical. It will be beautiful when the plants grow.
But yes - that arbour was more than terrible.
I had hoped to love this makeover, but there are hits and misses in all the zones, but the order of the scoreboard was spot on

They had 2 zones. The balcony was awful - 0/5 imo. The chess set was horrible and for a family with a crawler, the fish pond was weird. The paved path took up valuable grassed area on such a steep slope. The only good thing in that zone was the facade. So 3 was pretty fair in my opinion. The judges are bonkers.

I felt for Lisa and Andy because that front zone was tough. I wondered if they could have done some of those terraces with rustic wood sleepers instead of boulders or something like that to break up the rocks. I think they did a good job considering how difficult it was but it was pretty intense to look at. The comment about fighting a dragon was hilarious.

I agree.  They needed some larger plants to hide some of the boulders.  Once the ones they did plant grow I'm sure it won't look anywhere near as bad.

In an earlier episode they stated they deliver a truckload of plants which they have to share and anything on top of that they have to purchase themselves.

This time there didn't look to be as many large or mature plants as there had been previously.

I do often wish we could go back a year or two later and see how the houses look.  Obviously P&C didn't do any gardening in their front garden previously so it would be interesting if they will now.

ETA:  Oh and that garden deck scared me with a crawler/ toddler moreso than the pond.

Me too - especially with the little fold out lounge close to the edge.

I did agree with the score of 3 for S&C and I have no strategy ... but I was glad to see them go, they were just annoying (so are Lisa & Andy)
I couldn't see how they got 6/7 from the judges though. I split the zones into what they did, so it's the facade/front yard/deck - so each area would be worth 3 or 4. The chess board was tacky, and why on earth would anyone think P&C could play chess??? The party deck was just bare.

I didn't like the division of the deck though, I could see a problem where both teams might give them the same things.

How does the budget work? S&C stuff looked cheap/tacky, so I can't understand where their money went? M&T got a great kitchen and garden area, did S&C spend everything on the facade?

The whole front yard boulder cliff was dangerous for a toddler, I figured the deck was just another fall risk in that sense. None of that furniture will stay out there anyway - it would get wrecked in an instant. I figured that platform was pretty much a rest & recuperate station after the trudge up the cliff to the house.

Was this ending cut short or something? We just had a weeks work done in one episode.

Lisa annoyed me when she called the boys ' babe' and told them it wasn't her table, they were walking down stairs, why would they think she was talking to them?

In the end scenes you see that little table break, they acknowledge it and the very next scene they are hugging right next to the now unbroken table. :p

Yeah they sure rushed through that and it was the biggest build.

For the past several seasons, probably since the public voting ended, the Grand Final has only been held over 1 episode.  This has included both the reno and the judging all on the one night.  The previous grand finals haven't included a week long reno however.  Last year it was the front yard make over done in 4 days.

I find a Tuesday an unusual day for a grand final to air yet ironically tonight is also the grand final of Masterchef.

Well that was a disappointing result.

The laundry was without doubt the ugliest laundry I've ever seen.  Hideous wallpaper.

And a neon 'fabulous' sign above the master bed?  So much yuck with that alone.

#169 qak

That was disappointing.
I'm so sad for the deserving team!

#170 Nozycat

Loved all the bathrooms, hated all the bedrooms and that mesh.  I liked the laundry.

Happy with who won, the boys did some really good stuff but also some really bad stuff so don't see them as the overall best team.

That wallpaper in the toilet and laundry waa HIDEOUS. And neon "fabulous" signs are not high end luxe. More like tacky Motel 6 room.

Found the result very disappointing!  I do think the boys deserved to win.  The judges comments on the walk through really didn’t reflect in the scores.  How can the main bedroom be so terrible according to the judges but Pete and Courtney get two tens?  And the boys bedroom was fantastic but they didn’t get a 10.
I guess I didn’t Pete and Courtney from the start , so not happy they won.

Poo!  Out of all of this year's contestants those two were the ones I wanted to win the least.

They were petty over the whole 'sleeping in the tent' episode and they had several renovations where they didn't even finish their zones.

Did anyone see that last week on Insta, Jo Griggs announced she is stepping down as host of HR?

I only just saw an article on it. I wonder who they will get to replace her.

She is staying with better homes and gardens but wants to get back in to sports related stuff.

Didn’t Johanna say that she was a bit disappointed with how the network was promoting Jamie as well as being uncomfortable with the ‘reality’ of reality tv? Seemed to imply that production was pushing contestants to the brink and their mental health was suffering... I think I read that somewhere, maybe No idea?
