We've got he Aldi family plan too, had it since January for me and 3 kids. Seriously cannot fault it. I purchased a new phone for me outright, and passed on my old one to the youngest child. We will be way ahead on what it would have cost to do the same thing with Telstra under a contract.

We changed over when my Telstra contract expired. I'd wait out the contract and then consider the options.

Was it difficult to change over? I'm looking at going from Telstra to Aldi. Did you have to phone Telstra and let them know?

It might be different if you are on an active plan, but most telcos allow you to port (transfer) your number online these days. You don't have to ring them unless something goes hinky with the porting process (happens occasionally, especially if you've ported multiple times).

https://www.aldimobile.com.au/activate
This is the link to switch to Aldi mobile, it gives the option to port your number.

You just port out when you want to change. Meaning you sign up with the company you want and tell them you want to bring your number.
If you ring the Telco you're with and cancel first before you port you'll lose your number.

Thanks for starting this thread OP!

How did you go? What did you decide on?

Today is the day. After a lot of research I'm going with Aldi Pre Paid. A bit nervous after years on a plan with Telstra! But looking forward to saving some $$.

I've got 3 months left of a 24 month plan, so will probably stay to the end of the contract before switching.
