I'm not watching until tonight. I think the spoilers should hold off until 11pm!

We used to have a 10pm opening time. We could do that again?

I just don’t get what people can’t stay out of the thread until they have watched. Why do we have to have any specific time?

I put spoilers in the thread title for this reason!

Easy to say this week. Harder next couple of weeks when there might be theories or explanations that you want to read or post but then someone writes a spoiler before you've seen that week's show

Because if you can wait 2 years to watch the thing you can wait 11 hours to discuss it.

We already know you're patient. LOL

I think we should be able to talk about it straight away, don't come into the thread until you have seen it.

Not that there are heaps of spoilers this week anyway, it was more an episode of setting the scene for the rest of the series and showing us where everyone is and showing all the reunions and meetings of characters.

It's your thread ~J-F~ you get to make the rules!

Fair warning that my next post is going to be my thoughts on the ep...

So if you have watched and want to discuss, lets do it.

If you havent watched, time to stay out until you do!

Here are my thoughts on ep 1:

I loved Jon Snow on the dragon. I have been waiting for that sine he met Dany.

When Sam told Jon his history, poor old Jon was shocked. Not sure if it was I screwed my aunt shock yet though

The reunion between Jon and Arya.

Poor Sam finding out about his family

Interesting that Sansa isnt a Dant fan and Dany doesnt seem to know what to do about that.

Seeing Tormund was great, the trailer showed he was alive but still, I am glad he is.

The end where Jamie arrived and looked straight at Bran and thought oh sh*t...

Overall it was definitely just a set the scene ep, checking up on everyone, seeing where they were and what they were doing.

I don't like that only Jon knows his true identity. I wanted it to be announced in front of everyone and then EVERYONE would have to bend the knee. Alas...

Do you think Jon really didn't know Dany killed Sam's dad and brother? He didn't deny it. Just apologised.

I'm all team Sansa. I hope she comes out on top over Daenerys.

I think Jon is going to start to think he would make a better ruler than Dany and this could create all kinds of problems....

I can't even believe Sam was bothered his father died.

He would make a better ruler than her, at least he is a little fairer than Dany and her bend the knee or you will be a crispy critter

I think Sam was more upset that his brother was also fried rather than it being about his father.

I think Sam was more upset about what type of ruler she is rather than it being his family.

No,he got wet eyed over dad first. I see why his father found him so disappointing.

I think with Jon being shocked it was disbelief, then everything falling into place for him a bit.
Also whilst Sam has the document that shows that Lyanna and Rhegar married that doesn't prove that Jon is the heir (I can't see Bran's visions flying with everyone straight away). So Sam and Bran may have been wanting solid proof before telling the world but needed to tell Jon.
Edited to add I also think Sam was more bothered about his brother but was teary because of the shock of being told only moments after they were thanking him for healing Jorah.

Yes that is how I saw it too. I was really hoping that Arya and the Hound would be a bit more happy to see each other though but in their own way they were for now. I have a feeling that she will have to kill him in a mercy killing kind of way though....

I may have seen it or read it in one of the books but can't remember...why does the Night King leave that spiral pattern? That is the second time it has been shown. Once when they found the BoTNW and their horse heads and now. What's the significance to the Night King?

So now it has started what theories does everyone have?

I don't think it will be Dany or Jon who end up on the throne somehow. I've seen some of the cast say that the ending is not going to please everyone which makes me think that someone like Cersei or the Night King will end up there.

And as for who dies? I think Jorah, Jon, Tyrion, Davos and Varys will die. Probably Grey Worm and I hope Euron does. I am hoping Jaime will kill Cersei and the Hound will kill the Mountain but will be so badly injured Arya will have to kill him. I wouldn't mind seeing a face off between Qyburn and Melisandre

Edit to change a wrong name

Do you mean Varys? Pycelle was stabbed when Cersei used the wildfire.

I thought Sam was upset about his family, especially his brother, but also was shocked about what Dany had done. I struggle with Dany. She has talked so much about breaking the wheel etc but then rules just like everyone else, thinks she deserves the iron thrown through birthright and is ruthless and arrogant. Like last season when she demanded Jon bend the knee. They could have kept going with a truce and him as King of the North, particularly as she agreed to that with the Greyjoys.

Nice little reunion between Yara and Theon. Yara seemed to be pretty well considering what Euron was threatening last time we saw her.

I don't have high hopes for a lot of my favourite characters and I think this has led to me being a bit detached. Theres no point getting caught up in my favourite characters if I'm just going to be heartbroken when they die horribly.

Poor little Umber boy :(

They made a pattern in the very first episode with the Wildling bodies but I can't remember if that was a spiral? I think it means something, just not sure if the spiral itself has a meaning or if it's a general warning, ie. "look we desecrated your corpses"

The spirals were also on the walls of the cave where Jon found the dragon glass. I think it has some kind of meaning but I don’t know what.

It was a good ‘setting up’ episode but wasn’t very exciting. So glad that tormund survived, I was yelling at the tv at the end lolsaid to DH ‘don’t let him die now...’

And when Bran saw the flashback of the first white walker and the children of the forest weren't the stones in a spiral?

It must mean something.

The first episode of the season is never very exciting, but we only have 5 more to go so they should be better from here.

The trailer for next week looks interesting.
