What do you think of the name Elsie? Is it too cutesy? Too insubstantial? What do you think as a sister name for Phoebe? Any potential middle name ideas?

Thanks x

My nan was Elsie Ada

So I’m biased but I really like it! We considered it for DD1 but I didn’t want to choose one of my Nans over the other

I don’t like it, but that doesn’t matter if you like it :)

An excellent name, I work with babies and I can't remember when I last heard the name Elsie. It's gorgeous.

I love it, but then I loved my Auntie Elsie (my dad's aunt so very much a local grandma for us) so much too.

Phoebes middle name is Amelia. I am wanting to keep away from family names (too many politics)😂

I love Elsie!

I think the middle name needs to be another classic.

E.g., Elsie May, Elsie Joy, Elsie Anne

Love it. Would have happily used it for DD3 but didn’t appeal to DH.
I like Pearl as a mn (biased as I used Pearl for DD 2’s mn but I think it matches perfectly).

I think Elsie is gorgeous. My DHs great nan was Elsie.

Depending on your tastes, there are ways give it a modern flair:

Elsie Grey, Elsie Lane, Elsie Lux, Elsie Wren, Elsie Willow, Elsie Harlow, Elsie Brynn, Elsie Rae,

If a more classical feel is what you are after:
Elsie Rose, Elsie Maeve, Elsie Grace, Elsie Belle, Elsie Florence, Elsie Sophia, Elsie Kate.

Really dislike.  No rational reason.  It seems 'weak' next to Phoebe to me.

I really like Phoebe.

Don't do it. It was my nickname once, hated it.

The beloved aunt above was Elsie Isobel

To me it sounds like the name of a sweet old lady. I just cant picture anyone younger than 80 with that name :)
Its looks nice written and sounds nice and all but i cant get the 'old' out of my head.

I love it. It was on my girls list though DH vetoed as it has been used by a friend.

I like it best with a three syllable middle.

Elsie Amelia would have been gorgeous.
Elsie Maria
Elsie Josephine
Elsie Isabelle/Isobel

Or a short one.

Elsie Kate (Emma Kate and Emma Elisabeth are two combos I love also)
Elsie Clare
Elsie Jane/Jade/Jaye

Elsie could also be a nickname for Elisabeth (my Aunt Elisabeth goes by Else or Elsie), or for Elspeth.
