And it seems that he's Australian.

Sweetpea - I don't think there is any room to question whether this is a terrorist attack - of course it is!  Whether it is a lone wolf (which this isn't, there are already 4, and they are not ruling out more), or a group.

It is also not necessary to bring in the #notallmen, #notallwhitemen, or any other pathetic excusing.  Terrorism is terrorism, and anyone with any intelligence knows that not all people are terrorists.

And one of these so far is a woman.

This is sickening.
I'm so sorry Christchurch.

Absolutely abhorrent. I have no words. My niece is still in lock-down at school. They moved all the students to the boarding facilities of the school but so far parents are not allowed to pick-up.

Latest update from the stuff website says there are 30 people dead.  I believe this is probably's NZ worst mass shooting :(

Jacinda was fantastic in her speech.  Why can't Aussie politicians learn a thing or two from her?

Guardian is reporting the lock down has been lifted.

My thoughts are with everyone in Christchurch.

My cousin lives on the same street. It is a very dark day. He is safe.

Kia Kaha Christchurch.

They would have deliberately targeted Friday prayers when people would be gathering and in the mosque.  Designed to inflict maximum damage. Like someone bombing a church at 10am on a Sunday morning.

It's Friday. The mosques were full. There were shots fired at Christchurch hospital as they were trying to get ready to take victims. It's horrendous. And it's shaken the locals because "this sort of thing doesn't happen in New Zealand".

I had an awful feeling he was Australian. I don't know why.

Just awful beyond words.

She really is a worthy leader. She stands up and tells it how it should be, there is no bullsh*t.

I know it’s so awful. I sent my friend a message but haven’t heard back from her, she works at Hagley Park. I’m so angry. I ****ing hate men. I’m completely serious.

NDP - Looks like they have arrested 4 people (3 men and 1 woman). I cannot begin to imagine the circumstances that have led to you saying how much you hate men other than you must have been deeply hurt by men in the past, but women are capable of violence as well.

Look at the stats for violence and then look at the stats for mass murder and get back to us.

People not facing reality is why we are in this ****ing place now.

Guess the media needs to remind everyone that all white people shouldn't be blamed...just like they do when there is a Muslim terrorist.

ETA - maybe it's not called a terrorist attack because it can't be linked to a group?

Sorry, so the other so-called terrorists, which group
Are they linked to??

Yes please. It's not a gender issue.

We are in the "****ing place" now because the people that organised this attack are religious, bigoted, racist Fascists. Not because they are men but because they wanted to target Muslims specifically. That was their agenda. To cause maximum terror to a particular religious group.

Have you looked at some police stats lately? Women are not the problem.

Do you really think that the news only reports on violence committed by men? That they deliberately ignore violent women? I know when women are violent they make a big song and dance about it, but it’s not the norm.

In my own life, it’s men who have been the perpetrators of child sexual abuse and domestic violence and rape against me. Coincidence?

I wonder why it’s mostly men’s violence that is glorified in movies and tv shows? Coincidence?

I have kind, respectful men in my life and they can see it is a man issue too.

You don’t agree that the perpetrators of violent crime are overwhelmingly male? That both men and women are many many times more likely to be killed by a man than a woman?

Or is that you believe that white supremacist groups have a  50/50 sex split?

It's just heartbreaking. I feel sick for the families, the community, for NZ.

Oh G-d, no. Any number would be horrific, but thirty?

The deliberate targeting, it's just so cruel. The rising tide of neo-Nazi sentiment is genuinely terrifying. I feel frightened to go to synagogue tomorrow. I hate that I feel that way, but it's true :(

white supremacy absolutely should be blamed. it’s time to realise white supremacy isn’t simply about “freedom of speech” - it’s about actions, it’s dead bodies, it’s fear in the streets. it’s terrorism.

how horrific, my heart goes out to all who are affected.

This.

And the media. The reporting is so very racist. From the advertising of the live stream to the refusal to use “terrorism”, when had it been a Muslim attacking a Christian church it would have been used from the outset, even using the words “it is not known if this is terrorism-related” like I’ve heard so very often.

30 people!  Very sad for all who have been affected by this.

Would never have thought Christchurch or NZ would be a vulnerable place.  I suspect most NZers will unite against this.  The perpetrators may have had the intention to try and start a race war.

It should be taken down.
