We're at day 61. A dog pregnancy is roughly 63 days. I'm bored with waiting, and absolutely nothing is happening.

This is Eden. How many do you think she has in there? She's not very big, I'm estimating 4-6. This mating brings together all my breeding dogs in the one pedigree. I'm a little bit excited to see how it all comes together.

Oh how exciting. I always love new puppy threads

Bit hard to tell how many in there she is gorgeously fluffy :)

Puppies! Honestly, dont know how you do it - having one 9 week old (who is smart as a whip and is obeying some commands and making great strides with toileting) is hard enough...

Im gonna guess 5... but i have absolutely no knowledge of dog pregnancies... im only saying 5 because thats how many were in my girls litter.

Heres wishing Eden a lovely calm birth and a healthy litter! Cant wait to see photos

Because when they get to 8-10 weeks, I sell them  and they get to be other peoples little hell raisers.

Early on, they are pretty easy. If there's a struggler, I help out along and that can be tiring getting up through the night. But aside from cleaning out their box a couple of times a day, and daily weigh ins, there's not much to it. From about 3 weeks the work picks up and by 8 weeks I'm counting the hours until they go.

By then, they needed to be in their own homes getting individual attention. And I need a rest.

She didn't like being made to stand there while I took her photo. She wanted to be glued to my leg. I left for work shortly after that though, so she still didn't get her way.

I know. I'm done with work for a week or so and I want things to start moving.
Today I've cleaned the house, shopped for groceries, walked the old dog, taken a short nap. And I'm still waiting!!!

She's expanded overnight and I think the puppies have moved down towards her pelvis. They were high up under her ribs so her belly wasn't very round.

We've also had some whining and digging, she is the dog least likely to whine about anything so I'd say we're in the very early stages of labour. I'm keeping a close eye on her but at this stage, just letting her do what she wants. Once she gets closer we'll move to the back room and the whelping box.

Do you get xrays to check how many pups are on board?

Hope it happens soon.

Newborn pups are bloody hard work, I am not in any hurry to do it again!

Eden is beautiful!

The last pregnant animal I saw was a guinea pig who looked like a pancake she was so wide, so by comparison I’m guessing a small litter of 3-4.

I got an x-ray once but usually I don't have time, and I've been away for most of this pregnancy. I only came home from Perth last Saturday, I'd been there working, and have been working all week.

I think things are slowly moving along. She's lost the mucous plug and she's doing a lot of stretching in her sleep.

We've started. We have a blue merle boy and a black tri girl so far. Very easy, very petty babies.
