Joany- I have been seeing an acupuncturist hoping to avoid ivf but it didn’t work out like that, I would see here every 1-2 weeks
She is on holidays during the whole time time I’m stimming so not doing it this cycle
Today I had day 7 bloods and the nurse said that I’m not responding as well as what they would have hoped 😩 and just to continue current doses cause I’m already on the max of gonal f (300)
And wait and see bloods and scan on Friday
I know there is no point stressing but should I be apprehensive that there won’t be many follicles in Friday? My AMH is 9 and low for my age (37)
Posted 14 January 2019 - 04:33 PM
Benny - I didn't realise 300 was the max, that's what I'm on as well. I know it sucks to hear that but as you said, stressing won't help and all you can do is wait it out til Friday. Have you had any scans yet or just bloods? I don't get bloods along the way, just before starting and my first scan will be on Friday as well. Hopefully between now and Friday the extra shots will do their thing and get some good follicles happening for you. Until then just keep up the shots and try not to stress out too much (easier said than done, I know) and remember, even if you don't get a huge number, you may still get The One.
Posted 14 January 2019 - 04:40 PM
I second what Jelly said... you only need The One. I know it's hard to not stress though.
I'm not sure but I was under the impression that if you are responding, but slowly, you can keep stimming until the follicles are where they need to be?
I'm sure some other ladies will jump on with their experience, I'm thinking it was maybe Maufie who was stimming at one point for what seemed like ages?
Oh it sucks you have to wait til Friday to be checked again, hopefully you will start to feel some twinges before then. Lots of positive thoughts for you and I hope you can do some nice relaxing things for yourself in there.
I hope you're doing well too Jelly xxx

Hi Benny, bloods don't always reflect scans and vice versa. 4 more days of stims is also lots of time to catch up. But agree you just need 1 (said the lady that only ever has 1).
Joany - I have had a little break with acupuncture over Xmas just so I am doing less IVF things but if you can manage once or twice a month that should be heaps. Some of them will teach you fertility massage as well that you can do yourself on your belly at certain times of your cycle.
Jelly hope you are doing well with your stomach
Mara hope you are passing the time until your next cycle
I had my ERA and Natural killer biopsies today. I won't lie, it felt like the FS was reaching into me and giving me the worst period pain I had ever had. But that pain was only while he was taking the biopsies and I had 2 done so it took a bit longer. The rest of the time was just uncomfortable. I felt much better straight after and there was only a little bit of bleeding.
I have treated myself to a foot massage this evening. Now I start BCP until the results come in
Posted 14 January 2019 - 07:50 PM
Ck - oh that doesn't sound like much fun but at least it didn't take too long. Good idea with the foot massage, that sounds like a nice treat.
Posted 14 January 2019 - 08:42 PM
Ouch Ck. At least it's done now and I'm glad you treated yourself afterwards. I hope you don't have to wait too long for results.
Benny i hope you're feeling a bit better tonight xx
Posted 15 January 2019 - 09:46 AM
Oh no CK hope you are feeling better now and glad you were able to have it done this month.
Benny - I started off on a lower dose of Gonal F and had it increased twice as I had a low response. I had 7 blood tests, 4 ultrasounds and finally had EPU on CD 20.
The FS said if I do IVF #2, we'll use a higher dose to begin with but also a different stim med but I think that was more because I didn't get a very good fertilisation rate.
I echo what others say about trying to stay relaxed. I was very stressed in that time which probably didn't help.
AFM - I think I just ovulated but never got a positive OPK. Had all the usual signs though so I hope it was. A couple more days of temps will confirm.
Oh holiday countdown now 1.5 weeks to go it will be a nice distraction from the 2WW

Thanks for your advise ladies it made me feel a bit better
I’m just such a pain in the butt with everything I just wanted this to go well!!! And I’m just annoying that nothing goes well for me- just having a little pity party. I’m sure everything will work out fine and I’ll wonder why I was carrying on in the first place! I prob doesn’t help that I’m sick
Wow fingers crossed that’s a lot of blood tests and scans! I usually ovulate around day 17 so I wonder if that affects anything 🤷♀️. I hope the next week and a bit goes quickly for you!!
Cause I’m in Darwin and there isn’t heaps of clients they only do collects one week a month on the mon, tues or Thursday so maybe I won’t be ready till Thursday
CK - good job getting through that ordeal!! Do you know how long till you get the results?
Posted 16 January 2019 - 07:04 AM
Thank you ladies for your responses in relation to acupuncture, I think I would be happy to do every 2 weeks and then ramp it up maybe in March before we start the next cycle. She also sees you twice a week when stimming and only charges you for one which I thought was generous.
Fingers crossed - this is my 3rd acupuncturist for exactly this reason, I just didn’t gel with the others (not sure what it says about me – haha) but the others I felt didn’t fully support IVF whereas this 3rd one works quite closely with another clinic and believes the two can really work well together – so think I’m onto a winner with her.
CK – that sounds really really unpleasant. I’m glad there wasn’t any pain afterwards though and well done on treating yourself, definitely deserved!!
Benny – my AMH at 37 last year was only 3.5 so I think 9 is actually very good. I was also on 450 Gonal F for my last cycle with a new FS, I’m not convinced it gave me any more eggs so for next cycle would like to go back to 300 if she agrees. It’s so hard not to worry but I hope Friday has a better result for you. Will you have an ultrasound on Friday?
Jelly – hope Friday goes well and those follies are growing nicely.
Mara – hope you’re doing well.

Happy Wednesday ladies!
Hope all is well, I’m just catching up with you all.
Interested in all of the acupuncture talk, I have a friend who tried it and had a great results!
Benny- hope things are going well with you! My first cycle I was on gonal f 300 dose which my specialist told me was as high as I could go. I responded okay but due to my low AMH only retrieved 3 eggs at EPU. My doctor told me that it was about quality not quantity. So like the other ladies have said, you only need one I’ve also started on DHEA to help improve the quality hopefully 🤞🏼 Should find out in a few weeks if it’s made any difference! Good luck with your cycle
CK- Hope all is well and you’re feeling better! Hope you enjoyed the well deserved foot massage!
Jelly: Good luck with your Friday scan!
To all of the other lovely ladies, how are you? I hope all is going well xx
AFM: Sorry I’ve been a little quiet posting, I have just been waiting & waiting to start the next cycle. I had a follow up thyroid blood test a few weeks ago and my GP clinic contacted me to make an appointment to discuss results.. of course my usual GP was on holidays and I’m impatient so I made an appointment with another GP who informed me my results show that I could possibly have an auto immune disease called Hashimoto’s.. he was completely vague and unhelpful and just basically told me I should be fine! Ugh! Contacted my fertility clinic and had to wait for my specialist to get back from holidays.. haven’t had a chance to see him yet but I did speak to him and he tells me he has looked over my bloods and there’s no reason I can’t start our second stim cycle next week! Just adding aspirin closer to (hopefully) transfer day! I googled Hashimoto’s and I was worried it would slow things down, but no confirmed diagnosis at this stage and for now my thyroid is within normal limits (but on the lower scale of things) I’m on a low dose of thyroxine (which I’ve been taking for a few months) just to help maintain my levels. Sorry that was a mouth full! There’s always something!
Posted 16 January 2019 - 03:37 PM
Oh wow Mella that is big news. But if I recall correctly Maufie had a Hashimoto's diagnosis too recently and is feeling better on the meds
Joany I have been to 3 acupuncturists too! 1 was too far away to see midweek, 1 only saw me when they were available so didn't really align to my cycle if the lady I saw was on leave. I am considering getting cupping done. I had it done years ago when I was in high school and had neck and back pain from poor posture / studying. I remember having the cups on my belly and think that should help with blood circulation. I guess I should do it when I am not in a cycle so should get into it quickly I guess
Benny and Jelly not long now til your scans. Hopefully those follies are growing!
Yay fingers crossed for the holiday countdown!
I had a thought during my biopsies: if this is all successful then I am going to have to birth a baby and it will hurt way more than this biopsy. But that will be a bridge to hopefully cross later - a good problem to have !
Posted 17 January 2019 - 07:53 PM
Ck - That's a good way to think of it. Hopefully that's a problem we'll all get to have!
Mella - that sucks about your diagnosis but hopefully knowing about it can help with things going ahead. I'm glad to hear it's not going to stop you getting into your next cycle next week too.
Benny - good luck for your scan tomorrow. I hope you get some better news this time and have some good follies growing.
AFM - not feeling much yet, where I was feeling quite a bit last cycle at this stage. Trying not to read too much into it but can't help thinking it might mean lower numbers this time around. Hopefully it's more to do with the fact I'm on holidays this time rather than busy at work all day.
Posted 18 January 2019 - 08:01 AM
Ok, stressing for no reason. Numbers are actually a lot higher this time. Last cycle at my first scan I had about 4 good size follicles on each side and ended up with 10 eggs. This time I have 7-8 good size follicles on each side at the first scan. I can relax now 😊
Posted 18 January 2019 - 11:12 AM
Mella - sorry about the hashimotos but it’s good that your levels are under control and you can start your next cycle
Jelly I’m glad you had a good scan and you can now relax when do you have another scan?
Afm Just had a scan, I have 8 follicles but they are all around 10mm , I just have to wait for them to call me with the plan this arvo but I will most likely stim for some extra days and rescan on Monday
The nurse said that we might only get 1 or 2 eggs , we will have to wait and see what Monday
They do pick ups Monday tuesday and Thursday next week so it looks like it will be Thursday

Oh Jelly that's fantastic, that's great numbers. What a relief and you must be doing well to be feeling good with that many follicles growing. When is your next check? xx
Benny I hope you have had a good result today too. Have they said you can just keep stimming if you need to? Are you in a metro area where they're not too restricted with days for procedures? Fingers crossed for you xxx
Ck you are right, and we really will do just about anything to get there in the end. I haven't had cupping, it sounds pretty painful to me! But yep I imagine it would be really good for circulation. I had quite a few acupuncture sessions when I was cycling in November and really enjoyed them, I was waiting for AF and it came about 20 minutes after my first session, maybe a coincidence but maybe not. It made me think it was worth it.
It is exy though hey Joany. It isn't available where I am so I cant do it but if it were I think I'd consider doing it every week or two as well leading up to the next cycle.
Mella that is big news! and frustrating that they were vague and unclear. It's good you're already taking thyroxine and hopefully your FS follows it up a bit better. Good luck getting started with your next cycle! xx
Fingers crossed, have a an awesome holiday, sending baby dust and rainbows to you but just enjoy your break and don't even think about it xxx
I noticed a couple of nights ago the movie A Star is Born is now on Bigpond movies, I saw it twice when I was cycling in Cairns in November, and heard the main song on the radio a lot while I was driving around down there. We don't get normal radio up here, so haven't heard it since. My great friend who came down to stay with me and pick me up after EPU left today with her family to move back to Brisbane which is so emotional in itself, but last night at our little neighbourhood last catch up, she played the song on her phone (omg brad cooper) and I burst into tears. Very unexpected, I think it just reminded me of that time and as I'm close to starting again its all I think about lately. Seeing them off today has kept the tears coming which is probably a good thing as I'm good at bottling it all up usually! So a good release and now I'm ready to get back into it
A question lovely ladies re cetrotide/orgalutran. Ck, you're probably all over this unfortunately. As you know at my last (and first) cycle I ovulated a few hours before EPU. I was taking cetrotide in the evenings and my last dose was the night before trigger, so 2.5 days before EPU. I'm doing the AACEP protocol this time and FS says this protocol will ensure early ovulation wont happen.... It does have me on cetrotide (or other antagonist) for 17 days (it's a long protocol) but according to my schedule the last one is 3 or 3.5 days before EPU. I will ask FS about this when I go down but I'm wondering how long a gap you guys have had? I'm sure I've read about ladies still having the antagonist on day of trigger?
Sorry for the epic post and thanks in advance for any advice xxx

8 follicles is great, and great they're all at a similar size. Hopefully a few more days stimming will really help. Good luck with the phone call, thinking of you xxxxx

I hope its ok if I join (rejoin) this group. I found it really helpful when going through my first round of IVF in 2017.
I am almost 34 and am lucky enough to have a beautiful 8 month old DD. She was conceived with IVF after multiple failed rounds of OI (I have PCOS). We have 3 frozen 5 day blasts.
DH and I have chosen to restart our IVF journey as we would like one more baby and it makes sense for our family to have them close together.
I had an appointment with my new FS today. We are in WA and have arranged our embryos to be shipped from Tasmania. I'm also awaiting my period so I can start on the pill.
I hope to get to know you all in the coming weeks/ months
Posted 18 January 2019 - 04:54 PM
Benny - 8 sounds like a good start. I will also be getting another scan on Monday. It sucks that your pick up days are restricted to their schedule so you can't go longer if needed. I hope by Monday your follies have made some good progress.
Mara - I'm sorry to hear about your friend moving away. It's good you were able to have a bit of a release rather than bottling up - I'm often a bottler too. In terms of the orgalutran, I take all my shots in the mornings and last cycle I had my last orgalutran shot on the Wednesday morning, trigger that night and pick up was Friday morning.
Welcome back Evie. It's always good to hear about success stories and I hope you have more success with your frosties so you don't have to return to stimming.
Posted 18 January 2019 - 06:17 PM
Hey Jelly, thanks for that. That's what i was thinking. This new schedule has my last one 2 days before trigger which is making me a bit nervous! I will talk to the doc about it. I hope you have a great restful weekend while your follies are doing their thing xx good luck Monday.
Hi Evie, welcome back. I agree with Jelly, it is great to hear a success story. Congrats on your baby girl. I hope everything goes well with your frosties, keep us updated xx
Posted 18 January 2019 - 09:30 PM
Hi Mara, just jumping in quickly on your antagonist question. I think you can ask your dr to explain why it's stopping earlier and you can also ask to have a blood test for LH just before your trigger so you know you haven't started surging. My dr only agreed to doing that recently and knowing my LH is still low keeps my nerves at bay until EPU (as I have never ovulated early with baseline LH)
Posted 18 January 2019 - 10:11 PM
Hey Ck thank you. I did have bloods done that morning before the last scan, I'm sure LH was one of them, she didn't tell me the levels but did say i was definitely ready to trigger. I'm sure it'll be right this around but i will ask the question! Thanks again
Posted 21 January 2019 - 11:08 AM
Welcome back Evie I hope it all goes well
Jelly- good luck with your scan today
Afm I had a scan this morning and there are 12 follicles, 5 are good size and the others are around 12-13mm so they might catch up by Thursday finger crossed
I’m feeling much better about it today, I was pretty negative about the whole thing over the weekend, it’s hard staying positive but hopefully it’s looking good now
Posted 21 January 2019 - 11:25 AM
Benny that sounds great. Sorry you had a rough weekend but that's great things are looking pretty good now. I hope the next few days go well for you xx
Good luck to you too today Jelly! xx

Benny - I'm so happy the extra time has got more happening for you and I hope the next few days can bump up a few more of the smaller ones for you too.
AFM - Total numbers at scan were higher than last time but she didn't actually say how many were a good size. I planned to ask when the clinic called to discuss but got a bit distracted when they said I'm now triggering tonight for pick up Wednesday! So I'm not sure on exact numbers but quietly expecting a higher count than last time and it's good to know they must be growing so well this time around. It's a few hours drive for us to do the collection and we had planned to stay an extra night this time rather than coming straight home after the procedure like we did last time but with the short notice now our accomodation options were limited. Just going to stay the night before like last time and at least I'll get to be back on my own couch/bed after the drive. I think my partner is relieved as his birthday now falls just after collection rather than just before the predicted date which would have limited what he could do!
Posted 21 January 2019 - 05:38 PM
That's great Jelly! Maybe it's good you don't know the exact number so all you expect now is a good amount a bit less pressure. It's also nice you can go home after to rest in your own house. Good luck with trigger i hope you don't have to stay up too late!
