Many thanks!

Maxwell is s family name so if we go with Max it will be Maxwell nn Max.

I LOVE Nathaniel nn Nate I’m now trying to convince DH!!

I prefer Alexander over Samuel I think because our surname is kind of similar to Worthington I have Sam Worthington stuck in my head, I prefer Samuel too but I know he will get Sam.

Mmmmm lots to think about

Another vote for Alexander - love nn Sascha but others are good too.
2nd choice is Samuel.

Nathaniel or Samuel are great with Joshua  or Daniel or Gabriel

I like all three names and if I didn't know people with those names they would have been in the top 5 names. They all go with Joshua. I think I would now pick Alexander as I know more Max's and Sam's as children than I know Alexanders.

1 Sam
2 Max
3 Alex

There are a lot of little Alex's around my way.

But they are all good solid names.

My eldest is Joshua, my second son is Samuel and my third son is Max(imus). And Alexander is awesome. So you really can’t go wrong. I will advise you though that every Max I have ever met is charming and cheeky so be prepared!

Samuel being Sam was my biggest hesitation, I don’t love it as much as the full name. Without me insisting though, he much prefers Samuel and doesn’t ever use Sam. He’s 18. A lot of people do automatically shorten it though but he corrects them.

I prefer Samuel of the options.

Alexander good name too..not a fan of Maxwell.
Max on its own I like but not keen on the longer versions.

Are you going to shorten?

I love Alexander, but not a fan of Alex/Alec.

I love Samuel, Sam is ok, but prefer Samuel.

Not a fan of Maxwell/Max/Maxie

I love Alexander and Samuel but I think I have to be realistic that in Australia they are likely to be shortened at some stage.  I'm impressed lanthe that your Samuel has managed to maintain the full name!

I think with Maxwell though it would be Max from the get go.

DH has vetoed Nathaniel unfortunately  :glare:  and although I like Gabriel I don't think I could use it.

After further discussion with DH last night, I think the front runners are Alexander Jon and Samuel Jon.  DH likes the ability to use AJ, I'm nonplussed on that!

I love Alexander and Max. I like Maxwell but prefer Maximus or Maximillan. I like Samuel but really dislike the NN Sam or Sammy.

So my pick is Max(well) followed by Alexander.
